Day 1 of a planned 5 day 'no solid food fast'

Blood sugar 123 mg/dL

I had a blowout birthday weekend in in New York that got 'out of control' eating-wise, and then got 'extra out of control' due to a delayed flight. They took us off the plane and proceeded to feed us free carbs (chips, soda, ham sandwiches, cookies, pretzels). This went on for hours.

Anyway, had a great time and the fast re-starts today. I'm only going to do 5 day fasts for the next few weeks (until I get down to 165lbs) because I was getting bored on my last 11 day fast and it didn't move the scale much past the 5th day and that sucked a lot of the motivation out of it.

My 123 morning blood sugar reading is alarming! Now, I really did 'have-that-many-carbs' yesterday, but still, that is Type-2 diabetes range. Even if I do have T2 I would still stick to my normal diet, low carb and fasting. However, a morning reading like this just shows me that if I thought I could eat carbs like 'normal' people I would be slowing killing myself...

@baskington - Thanks! Yeah my body gains weight like no tomorrow with carbs, but responds to them in the gym :) The real test will be to see if I can continue to lift at this level. Next two weight lifting sessions will be at under 10 net carbs. I will allow myself 20 carbs when I lift on Sunday. No 'carb up' days (100+ carbs) until I get to 165lbs and there-is-no-telling when that will be. Really, it could be next week or next month. I give up trying to guess what my body will do...

Hey bud. Back to the grind. Great job and congrats on your lifting session. My next vacation is 9 weeks away and thank you for keeping me accountable. Working on my 2 weeks of data.

@chesgreen - Dude, I gained 10lbs in 4 days! Can you Frickin' believe it? :) Haha! You KNOW I had to 'rip the band-aid off' as soon as I got home and weigh, right? We're gonna be ok man, life is good... :)

@CrashtestDawnie - Thanks! Tomorrow I am going to do a rare back-to-back weight workout. I want to see if I can still lift the same tomorrow. My other big 'move': Squat - Previous: 140lbs Now: 160lbs (10 reps)!
