Day 1 of weight maintenance

What do you do with your life when you are not losing weight?

I have honestly been trying to lose weight every day of my adult life. This morning is the first time EVER that I woke and thought "I don't need to lose any weight today." You would think this would be a good thing, but, since I know I don't want to get fat again, I know that while I don't need to lose weight, I am 'still' on a 'diet'.

I know how to gain weight. All I need to do is eat more carbs. I allowed my carbs to go up to 60 last night and sure enough I am up one pound. This is not bad considering I lost 4 pounds the day before (also, I am STILL at a 'normal BMI' :)), however, keep this up, and one pound a day can turn into 30 pounds by September.

So, the plan today is to keep the carbs to 30 and get 1 hour of weights and calisthenics in.

Ironically this could cause me to lose weight...
164.0 lb Lost so far: 43.0 lb.    Still to go: 0 lb.    Diet followed poorly.

@biketolive - Dr. Fung's books saved my life. Without his books I would have not lost the weight, period :)

@baskington - I thought a LOT about this over the past few weeks and decided that 'solid food' for breakfast and lunch are 'out' for me (unless it is a special occasion). I have been drinking the protein drinks in water for lunch all week (1 carb 100 calories) and that seems to be working fine. I then have another one around 3:00pm. So this means I just have to have dinner, and that now means Keto (because she aint' cooking anything else!). I then have my Vanilla Milkshake (3 carbs 300 calories) and I'm done! - - If I continue to lose weight, I just need to up the carbs at dinner... Well, that's the plan at least...

OH MY GOSH< I can't IMAGINE. What are you going to do! Ahhh, master the art of maintenance. I bet that is going to be interesting! I hope to have that problem within the next year too!

@reader1 - I had to run out, and on the drive back, I had to drive by every fast food place on the planet. I thought about a 'treat' meal (Big Mac!). It would be sooo easy to pull into the drive through... I'm just not ready yet. I KNOW I would go on a 'carb binge'. I go on vacation in two weeks. There, damage-will-be-done. So I wont give myself any 'treats' until then. So I am 'protected' for now :)

@jenjabba - Because the current plan is to eat OMAD (One Meal A Day) I will still be fasting most of the day. So basically the plan to mostly stick with what has worked so far :) The ONLY problem with this plan is that I 'could' continue to lose weight (gasp!). … Then I'm F#cked :(

Awesome work. Is this one meal a day for 4 months?

@ E-J1 - To lose the weight it was 'no solid food' (but 700 calories in liquid), for 5 days at a time, for 4 months.

I haven't read through all the comments. Someone on FS mentioned the snake juice dude. If I remember correctly for him he had to eat 3500 calls in the omad to stay in maintenance. I think it will be trial and error for you at first just like when you started to lose. You will get it though. I have no doubt.

Mjgho6 ha I just watched that, he ate so much but only if he had one meal, it was an interesting test for his body.

@Mjgh06 - I am aware of him. However, my theory is that people with high muscle mass can almost burn more calories sitting in a chair breathing than I can burn if I ran around the chair they were sitting in :) - - But, I have to 'experiment' and then examine the numbers :) - - My gut tells me that the carbs are the key. I do 30 carbs or higher and I gain weight. I do 10 carbs or less and I lose weight. The calorie deficit is virtually the same. This is what my numbers say. For example I just examined a 11 day period at the beginning of July, I took in an average of 80 carbs a day! I gained 4 pounds. On every day but one I had a calorie deficit and for the entire period I averaged a 1500 calorie a day deficit. This is what made me drop my carbs to <10 a day when fasting and allowed me to drop 18lbs in the past 26 days!

@jenjabba - No way I could consume 3500 calories of ANYTHING and stay around 20 carbs :) That guy simply is not 'insulin resistant' like me and can consume 500+ carbs a day and not get fat :)

@adef Once you are lifting heavy, the rules will change a bit and you can work "treat meals" in behind your lifts to positive effect. As a master faster, you can always go on a fast if you have put on too much fat.

Am I the only one that thinks its SEXY AF that we have a husband/wife team on FS actively supporting each other in getting fit??
04 Aug 18 by member: jimmiepop
Me too jimmiepop I don't have that support at home.
04 Aug 18 by member: keilin-4
@keilin Heard. TBH, it looks to me like no one does. Everybody seems to have a story about how they get undermined... My Ex actually tried to feed me while I was dieting after we were divorced...

It's hard that way, my husband feeds me too, intermittent fasting helps me but ,when he is at home , I have to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner 😕🙄
04 Aug 18 by member: keilin-4
@keilin No you don't. Just sayin...

Awesome job Adefwebserver!! Ditto Jimmie's comments... also, resistance training, Intermittent Fasting and cardio (especially HIIT) both improve insulin resistance and help get our bodies back to accepting reasonable levels of carbs without jeopardizing maintenance or moving us towards type 2 DB. A FYI, fellow member, Paubut had some great material posted in the Maintainers Group re the benefits of repeated periodic glycogen depletion affect on short and long term health.
