meepersjeepers's Journal, 09 September 2020

Update: It's be a little over 24 hours since my tooth extraction and bone graft. The infection actually spread to another tooth and some gum/bone. So I had two teeth extracted and then some. I'm still on antibiotics and they prescribed me codeine for pain management. After the procedure, I was such a baby- wailing in pain.

However...

I CAN NOT take the codeine pain medication, worst side effects I've ever had in my life. I am pale in the face, throbbing headache, tired (even though I'm sleeping the entire day), nauseous, lost of appetite, I fainted a couple of times, dizziness, basically sedated and the list goes on. What a terrible drug.

So I'll stick to motrin and deal with the occasional pain. The ice packs have been helping too.

I'm stuck to eating mushy, cold and/or room temperature foods. I can't workout- hell I can't even bend down or I'll get too dizzy.

At least the swelling is going down. Picture 1 was before extraction and picture 2 is today.

I just hope that when this is all over, I can go back to my healthy lifestyle. I feel like CRAP!

Thank you for all the kind and caring comments. You guys are the best. I'll get through this, but man... this is what I get for not going to the dentist to get that one cavity checked out in the beginning of the year.

Can only blame myself for this costly and potentially deadly infection.

Stay safe, stay healthy FS Family ❤️

You can't help but be beautiful even with a puffy face. I am so very sorry this happened, and like liv said, you can't blame yourself. Who could imagine a simple cavity could cause all this trauma. You will feel better. You will get back to your healthy lifestyle. You will be beating my time when you run. You'll be OK!!!

melissatwa, You are always so sweet. Thank you for the encouragement, I'm just feeling down. You know, I got to this point and I really wanted to focus on my pace, all for this to blow up in my face. I'm sure once I heal and I look back on my journal, I'll be shaking my head for all my complaining 😂 And I'm sure it'll take a while to get to my place again. I hope you and your family are doing well 💗

Don't blame yourself - we all wait sometimes and 99% of the time it makes no difference. I hope you can start thinking more positive thoughts and I wish you well.

If there were ever a time to understandably delay a visit to the dentist, this would have been it. Sorry it got complicated, glad you’re on the mend.

I can’t take pain meds either. They either make me loopy and “high” or I get sick, hives etc depending on which one they give me. I’ve been told that since Advil works for me I can just take 3-4 at a time which is similar to what they’d give me in an ibuprofen script. They wanted to give me 600+ and they give hubby 800 mg. Maybe see if they’ll let you add in an extra pill or two so you can stay on top of the pain.

I’m so glad you got it taken care of and are in the mend🤗 take time to heal that is what is most important, let the infection be gone. Hugs and prayers for a swift recovery.

I loath pain meds! They make me nauseous and vomit 🤢 🤮 and cause constipation. As a mama, I don’t like the feeling high feeling either, never actually liked it. I hope you feel better soon 💜💚

So sorry for your pain. A bag of frozen peas work even better than an ice pack. In my prayers. Be safe🙏🙏

Katsolo, Thanks you, at least the extraction is over with, should be up hill from here. peeperjj, I'm sorry you also run into this problem. I had no idea I had this issue until yesterday evening. I actually had really bad back pain and that's when the doctor recommended I just do the two Motrin's every 4-6 hours. They are concerned about kidney damage since my antibiotics are very high in mg too. They want me to do a blood test afterwards to see if any damage was done. I took just one a few hours ago and I'm actually doing okay. So I hope I'll be able to manage tomorrow with just Motrin.

OmaRanger2, Thank you 💗 jcmama777, That's another reason why I can't stand this type of pain medication. I've been getting in a lot of fiber. I don't need anymore issues 😭😂
