Sharebearz's Journal, 18 September 2014

Today had been my third day of no soda.. today I'm missing it. Usually if I get the craving of it, I drink a half cup of diet soda* from the fountain machine at work. Did I mention I'm allowed to have soda anytime? That makes temptation worse by far. But, I'm in control and I'm the only one who can make a difference in my life. If I hadn't did my weight loss journey 3 years ago, I would still be that 217 lb person ..or even bigger. Guess that's my motivation. So now I'm finishing writing this and taking my lazy tail to Walmart for some food shopping. Think I'm going to buy some propel water in order to curve my cravings.

I use to be so addicted to soda it was shameful. Have been soda free now for 9 months and actually can't stand the thought of drinking one. I drink water with fruit punch stuff in it and love it. So hang in there.... took me ab

I used to keep cans of coke in the house... by the case. Occasionally I'll have one now. But I have one. I buy one at the store and get out! We have a love/hate relationship. It wants me. I want it. It was killing me.

Its definitely hard catyup! I was drinking 4 to 6 can a day. I'm definitely not use to the reduce caffeine, and for me one unfortunately leads to another, northernmusician. I found caffeinated water at Walmart though, seems pretty awesome for my transition period.. very low calorie.

:) Isn't caffeinated water called coffee? I know what you mean about the repeats on soda. One always felt like another... then another... next thing I knew I was 230 pounds. :(

Try flavored seltzer water (no calories and no fake sugar, which is even worse for you) with about 4 oz. 100-percent fruit juice of your choice in it. You get the fizzy flavor, but very few calories.

From 4-6 Dr. Pepper's a day to nothing but water for 8 months... just google to read all the negative health effects of carbonation, not to mention the sugar in non diet soda's... Easy to say no when you realize it is not food... zero nutritional value.

Stopped drinking Diet Pepsi April of this year just stopped it. I like flavored water and been using water enhancers ....

I sometimes add mio drink enhancers, or something similar... Walmart has great value brand in a lot of different flavors, and there are many others, so I usually buy 3 or 4 different flavors (some have caffeine and vitamins) and put them in my purse, that way I always have them with me if I start craving something different than plain water. I always carry my water bottle wherever I go so I'm not tempted to buy other drinks! Another thing I do to change things up is add fresh sliced lemons to my water, that's my fave!! Good luck to you:)

I actually really like the idea of the selzer water with 4 Oz of water, power zero I've never seen before on shelfs, and crystal light is pretty good. I did google the effects of diet soda, and carbonated water. Really carbonated water doesnt have a lot of horrible things written about it, just inconclusive studies... now diet soda? Yes, you've made me stay away. Studies even proved it doesn't make you lose weight with the following quote, "Obesity You read that right: Diet soda doesn't help you lose weight after all. A University of Texas Health Science Center study found that the more diet sodas a person drank, the greater their risk of becoming overweight. Downing just two or more cans a day increased waistlines by 500%. Why? Artificial sweeteners can disrupt the body's natural ability to regulate calorie intake based on the sweetness of foods, suggested an animal study from Purdue University. That means people who consume diet foods might be more likely to overeat, because your body is being tricked into thinking it's eating sugar, and you crave more."

If you have mint growing add some mint leaves to your water. Also orange or Lime slices are good.

Typical day includes one-16oz cup of coffee, black, nothing added. The rest of the day is water with a slice of lime. I might have a soda on rare occasions, but that isn't very often. Congratulation on your self-restraint! Your body thanks you for it...

I think diet sodas are a problem (besides the unknown effects of artificial sweeteners) because they keep you wanting that sweet flavour. They know what their doing. They will either keep you drinking their chemical concoctions without sugar or with sugar. They don't care which. Maintaining your sweettooth also keeps you craving other carbs. That's my though on it.

I find that I don't care for the canned diet comes any more. I still like the fountains (not as sweet) but only have them twice a week. I've been drinking Sparkling ICE sparkling mineral water. They have nice flavors without sweeteners of any kind. I like the lemon. They flavor that with grated lemon rind.

Keep looking forward you have lost wieght, noy you are a stronger person, you are more in control of your self than 3 years ago. You can control your crave for soda, you can even disappear it if you focus. If you accomplish this, not only you will lose weight, but you will strengthen your will, making other life tough decisions easier. At least is what I have experienced.
