Cutting out eggs and bacon and putting in oats and apples! slowly shofted away from fatty food to healthy foods. Quitting smoking changed my brain chemistry. No more" I guess I can" or "Whatever". It's "look at what I can do with all of this time I have!"

That's really interesting, about the brain-chemistry connection between smoking and determination!

Different strokes for different folks. I've done better by cutting out the oatmeal and apples and eating bacon and eggs. It just goes to show we're not all put together the same!

Congratulations on quitting smoking! There is this notion of caption habits: some changes in habits that help you or give you the determination to change other habits. For example, exercising. If people get to exercise regularly, they improve other habits too (like eating healthier or arriving on time). I guess quitting smoking works in a similar way.

I believe the chemistry is the need for a 'high'. I see carbs, nicotine and alcohol as drugs that the body do not need at all, but may make us feel in a certain way. Some sort of exercise give a very 'high'. Seeking out, and do things that ccan give you a great feeling is worth giving some focus.

I just switched it up to add more eggs. I missed them too much. People fear the whole egg too much..

Healthy food full of fiber. I say pass on the bacon but eggs are great. When someone compares natural foods from the earth with drugs, it would be wise to ignore them.

I was having a hard time finding these comments for some reason, but here I am! Thanks everyone for the encouragement! I have not started a workout routine quite yet. I have been very impressed with what I have seen from my results so far. I have to lower my cholesterol. Some people may not have to but I do. Quiting smoking ciggarettes was key to changing my way of life. Keep showing me all of your food people and let know what's going on! Thanks!

Yes Tom Long, now I can use both of my hands and I spend so much more time with my son. Ciggarettes and weight gain went hand in hand in almost killing me. I no longer snore loud and choke in my sleep. I can sleep on my back again. Two hands makes a big difference.
