Yesterday it was my youngest lil bday party, of course people asked “how did u lose weight” as soon as I say portion control they look at me as if I don’t want to share the secret 😂

Stromie, I have been doing keto for only 2 months. My numbers have NEVER been better. I am now off all meds. Blood pressure is amazing. I personally feel better than I ever have. Blood sugar is in the normal range for the first time in years. NO medication. This is my new religion. I will never go back. Not saying it is the same for everyone, but everyone has the right to choose without misinformation. Research is key.

@stromie- I eat keto and the bulk of my food is veggies. That is one thing I like most about eating this way and makes it a very easy WOE.

I understand. Just recently a very overweight acquaintance noticed my weight drop and asked what I was doing. I told her I was on the "Shut Your Big Fat Mouth" diet -- eat less, move more. She looked uncomfortable and said, "But what do you eat?" I eat real food. I eat smaller portions. I make better choices. If I splurge, then the next day I am more abstemious. She didn't like any of those answers and changed the subject.

Litzy’s— portion control is a mind set. By learning to eat in a controlled manner you can have a wider range of food choices more often, including treats and some of the less healthy choices. There are time when if I eat too much I am absolutely miserable— physically feel terrible. I cannot tolerate that stuffed, bloated, comatose feeling. Plus, from another point of view I am trying to stay as healthy as I can while still enjoying birthdays and holidays and special events. I deny myself NOTHING that I REALLY want, I just don’t do it every day. A 7 oz real Coke is still on my menu once in a while. want.

Speaking of Herbalife... a guy on the protein bar isle mentioned he had been using it but it got to expensive. Then switched to GNC stiff and that got too expensive sow as looking at Walmart for something comparable. He said Herbalife was the best protein he had ever taken and had the most improvement/benefits for him. Now I have to research it to see what all the fuss is about.

Yep— Definitly. A consistent deficit while in weight loss mode is essential and keeping your calories under control in maintenance is a necessity as well. In order to not balloon back up once you have reached your “goal”, it requires a life style change on a permanent basis.

@trackin64 and stormie. Confirmed by my last cholesterol blood work... Total cholesterol down 140. LDL down, HDL up. We will check again in 3-6 months and if it is still down, no need for the low dose Crestor I’m n now. This is just keeping bad carbs to 100 or less on a daily average. To my knowledge I have never been in full Ketosis.

My levels were always great on keto. Thor on here went basically keto just to drop his numbers. I think he also succeeded. I'll do some labs here soon and see if NOT eating low carb raises them..

Weigh and log, weigh and log, weigh and log; that’s my portion control. Log everything! It’s amazing how easy it is to go over without thinking that you are.

@trackin64.. I have a problem when I see misinformation, too. Triglycerides are the form that excess calories are naturally stored in fat cells. Excess calories can be the result of overeating anything. Carbohydrates are not the whole story. High triglycerides in the blood is the problem that causes most of the difficulties. This may be dietary but is quite often genetic. In non-genetic cases, losing weight will improve serum triglycerides. I suggest consulting websites such as that of the Mayo Clinic.
