Day 2 if my 40 day water fast. I didn’t intentionally seek out to do it but I was listening to my body. And for the past week I didn’t want to eat at all. So Sunday night I went without eating anything until dinner. And dinner felt like I was forcing my body to eat.

I don’t feel tired or slothish nor hungry. Is that normal?

I’ve never done 40 days but I have done 10 days and yes that is normal. Your body’s digestive process is on hold. Stay hydrated. Your mind will be sharper and seemingly clearer as it doesn’t have to handle digestion now. The calories that are being utilized in your fat cells are a “lower grade” than the calories u consume so physical strength may be less so quiet time may be a necessity. Again stay hydrated. If u drink caffeine there may be withdrawal symptoms. Again stay hydrated. I am not a physician but have some experience with fasting.

Thanks Bill. I’ve done some research and resting seems to be key. For a few weeks I started to realize that I felt like crap so I changed my eating habits to Whole Foods and like I said Sunday I felt like I was forcing myself to eat. So let’s see how my body reacts to no food. Thanks.

What ever you do under no circumstances, do not eat if you don't feel like eating. When an animal is sick and needs to heal itself, it stops eating for a few days. Guilt is a very powerful tool and it can hold us back from our real selves as we try to conform to what others believe we should do/eat. Whole foods are AMAZING and satisfying, this is why you didn't feel hungry, you body was fueled properly. I can eat 1600 calories of mainly whole foods in just one meal, dinner usually, and be so full as opposed to crushing 3500 calories from mainly processed foods in one sitting and swear I could have just one more bite.

The good thing about extended fasts is that it “erases” the previous program of eating habits that we had. U can start over with good habits. If u go back to the former way of bad diet u will get the same results. Good food plans are like having a good marriage. What It Took To Get em, It Takes To Keep em! I broke a 10 day fast by eating a large pepperoni pizza by myself with no problem. I gained it all back. Don’t know why😂😂😂😂 Good luck. Oh I did the Atkins Medical Diet ( he was a cardiologist) for 3 years and after 3 days my body kicked into fasting mode. JS

Good luck on your fast! The longest I have fasted is 11 days. However, after day 4 of a fast I could easily go until I felt like stopping. I always have some planned family 'eating event' that makes me voluntarily stop. While many people 'rest' during their fast, I must exercise (jog, lift weights, walk) to deal with the 'mental hunger' that creeps up in my head. For health, the most important thing for me to take is 'Hi-Lyte Electrolyte Concentrate'. Taking an electrolyte concentrate morning, afternoon, and evening is required for me to not have adverse 'symptoms' and dehydration.

I am barely doing 12 hour fasts, is 40 days safe? Not judging, really wondering.
