Interesting article: "Insulin Causes Weight Gain"
https://bit.ly/2xvvrw5

Here is why my opinion on weight loss is 'evolving'... I am now totally obsessed with my glucometer :) Now that I have gone back to liquid fasting (after 4 days of out of control carb eating) I can see how various things cause HUGE spikes in my blood sugar (and we are assuming this means fat producing insulin production). After days of water fasting I wake up with a 75-81 reading. When eating I wake up to a 90-100! Drink a Starbucks white chocolate mocha and 2 hours later I shoot up to 120! and stay there most of the day unless I do some vigorous exercise. I just took a reading after a 5 mile run of 86. I only plan to consume water until tomorrow morning so I hope to be in the high 70's tomorrow morning.

It is nice to have solid numbers to see what my body is doing, however, it shows me that even when I keep my calories low, my body will spike my blood sugar the instance it gets a hold of any carbs...

- - I am this close to jumping off the CICO bandwagon. Except that I still believe that there is a 10 pound limit to the water weight (required for the body to store Glycogen) I could gain if I maintain a calorie deficit. However, we will leave that theory for another day... :)

That’s why meals have to have protein n vegetables to satisfy u, that don’t mean u can’t have carbs .

I like what you said about concentrating on your protein, I don't pay much attention to fat/protein ratios as much as keeping net carbs, particularly sugar grams extremely restricted. I think more protein is probably intuitive.

In my last post, I specifically stated that the amount we eat matters relative to what we eat, in my opinion and that is the basic premise of "CICO" as it is often used on these message boards so not sure where any argument would lie. My point is when people who advocate CICO which again they usually mean counting calories they often don't take into consideration how an individual's body does the "calories out" part of that equation and how two people of similar sizes can take the same energy in but have different energy expenditure based solely on their health and past diet and past dieting life so it is individual and CAN include the need to restrict certain foods because of how the individual's body reacts to that food. I hope that makes my opinion clearer. I have a big day for me and probably won't be back to this. If anyone is interested in having a conversation about this with me that is respectful and not confrontational they can message me. Have a great day.

I agree with Steven Anthony...for whatever reason when I eat more carbs I am more hungry and crave more things making it difficult to stay on track. I have dieted both ways (CICO and more recently low carb/ high fat) and for ME, the low carb high fat is a much more enjoyable and sustainable way to live. It is night and day difference. They both work but low carb high fat has worked much faster and better for me. I am not constantly hungry and feeling deprived like I was with straight CICO. No need to argue or be mean to each other...agree to disagree and do what works best for you! 🙂
