...Bloating...
I have a slightly weird question. I lost a few pounds before starting with this website, but now I just feel super bloated and like I've gained weight! (I haven't!) It is a huge pain, especially when dieting! Any suggestions about what to do (certain foods to eat, to not eat (I already avoid salty foods and never eat junk foods) or exercises to do/ ones to avoid?)

THYROID

I know Jillian Michaels' book Master your Metabolism touches on Thyroid issues for women and things to eat, here are some suggestions:
-#1 most important - Consult an Endocrinologist(not just any doctor)
-She suggests following her diet plan(if you wanted to buy the book). Basically it's a balanced, all natural foods diet.
-"Don't take multivitamins with iron or cholesterol-lowering medication, or eat anything with iron, calcium, soy or high fiber, within a few hours of your thyroid medication-these can call interfere with thyroid hormone absorption"
-Exercise and Relaxation - "Exercise is a great stress reliever that lowers cortisol levels while also increasing your body's sensitivity to thyroid hormones. Try different relaxation methods, and shoot for at least 30 minutes of some kind of exercise EVERY day".
-Don't Supplement with iodine-"The avg. American diet has plenty of iodine, and when the thyroid gland senses high levels of iodine in the blood, it will release even less thyroid hormone. Choose iodized salt instead of kosher salt to put on your food, but don't supplement to add extra."
-Helpful vitamins - "Vitamin D, zinc(up to 40 milligrams), and fish oil, selenium(up to 200 micrograms). Get Vitamin D by going outside, for at least 10 minutes of unprotected time in the sun, which can help skin synthesize d3 when it is exposed to UVB rays from sunlight."

This was really helpful! I went with an undiagnosed thyroid problem for four years before my doctor finally listened to me. I've been on synthroid for the past two years, the dose just keeps on rising. At first, I had great results, losing 20 pounds in just under three monthes. The past year though, it's gotten really hard to lose weight. This isn't all thyroid of course, stress and life, but this information was really intresting. I had no idea about the multi vitamins with iron having any difference, I take a multivitamin every day! I avoid the sun religiously, being very pale, but if getting 10 minutes a day without my obsessive sun screen coverage could mean better luck with synthroid I'll be getting my sun! Any other suggestions or tips?
