I've been struggling with my weight since I had a trampoline accident that tore up my knee. I went from being very active to the doctors putting me on a sedentary lifestyle. Losing weight has been difficult mostly because exercise is very restricted with my limited mobility and severe fibromyalgia but I'm trying the one thing I haven't seriously tried in the past, and that's severely limiting carbs.

I have a teenage son that is super active and in sports, and his health and weight are excellent. I want to be able to take a more active roll in his activities and not be something he's ashamed to be seen in public with.

birthday cake replacement
This came at just the right time. My birthday is Friday and I've been trying to come up with something to celebrate with. If I do some sort of dessert, that will be the whole of my celebrating and my teenage son wants something sweet. I skipped the cake at all the kids' birthdays in dec and jan but I'd hate to skip the special treat on my own, if I can find something lower in carbs.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am going to look them over and find one to try this weekend.

I could use a buddy on here to share tips and motivation
I'd be happy to be your buddy. My goal is a bit more than yours, I have to use the public pool this summer, so I'm hoping to look at least semi presentable in a suit this year for water aerobics. Motivation and encouragement is something that we can all use. Smile

NEED HELP!
This place is wonderful for support and motivation. I've found a couple of people that are good at giving me that motivation to keep going when I do a weigh-in and I've lost, or I've met a goal. They help me remember that this is not a diet, it's a lifestyle change. If you need to talk, and don't want to do it in public, send me a message, I'll reply in kind. I've found the journaling to be more therapeutic than I ever expected, even if nobody ever reads them but me.

I don't know your situation but we all have something going on that contributed to where we are today and why we're on this journey. Just remember, you are not alone. Every single one of us is on the same journey, even if we take different paths to get there. We're here for you if you will let us be. I wish you the best of luck and an happy and healthy new you. Hi. New to this but not new to the weight loss struggle
Thank you Ingria. I have looked online and most of the workout programs I have found have to be bought. I don't have television (silly digital signal changeover doesn't work well with an old tv without a digital converter box), other wise I would make the effort to get up at 5:30am to work out with Sit and Be Fit. I told my best friend that if they really want to get me something for my birthday next month, that's what I want.. a couple of Sit and Be Fit workout videos.

I have started doing some things on my own, although it's hard to keep the motivation when I'm making it up as I go along. I have some 2lb weights that I picked up at a yard sale and I do some curls and other arm movements with those, then I do some leg extensions and I have one of those spring loaded thingiemabobs that you squeeze with your thighs, that I also picked up at the yard sale.

It may not be what others would consider a workout, but like you said, every little bit helps.

Thank you for the well wishes and I return them as well. I think we can all use all the encouragement and support we can get. Smile
