I am 29 years old and am at the top of my game...only I believe that I can get just that much further :-)

I am a software engineer with a standard work day. I like to get out whenever I can since I sit behind a desk all day. I love to run, play video games, see movies, and generally be happy as I can find the time to be.

Currently I do many different types of exercise routines ranging from marathon training, crossfit style and types of strength training and powerlifting, depending on the time of the year. I have been training for 5 years now and regularly exercising for 7.

My first year, when I first chose to shed the weight, I did lots of cardio and running...daily. I became the lightest I had been since I was 15 (193 lbs). These days I weigh around 200-205 lbs and have found that this weight, more or less, is appropriate for a man my size. My current focus is strength training. I have a 450 lb max deadlift, which I am exceedingly proud of and have maintained for several of my "high level" years. I am working to increase squatting, benching and pullups at this time, but with summer coming, will soon be transitioning to running again. I will "train" for a half marathon distance, which I have regularly been able to do each summer.

Finding a Personal Trainer
I would agree with evelyn64 above. Matching a trainer's personality with your own is a big boost when training with them. I've been seeing and have been friends with trainers for years, and they would agree, if their methods don't match your own goals, you'll be wasting your money.

I also suggest that you use personal training sessions as "educational classes." Most people are smart enough to perform their own exercises correctly and with the intensity they desire, but where do they start? When I first started I was reluctant, thinking I was wasting my money and time since I was already doing lots of things on my own. But I was lucky enough to have an adaptable trainer, and I figured out, with him, that I wanted education on how to do certain things that would improve my performance. So instead of hiring a leader to lead you through a workout, hire a teacher whom you can go to for learning, advice, and periodic checkups.

I guess this is just my standard wintertime weight. I've always carried around more during the winter than summer, regardless of diet. Lame haha.
