I am a masters-level psychologist who works with developmentally disabled adults and children. I work for the State of New York. I have three children biologically, one adult stepchild from my first marriage, and four adult stepchildren from my second marriage. Two twin daughters, both 14-years-old, live with me and my wife. Downstairs is my mother, who we are caring for in her final years. My mother has moderate Alzheimer's disease, and we intend to care for her as long as possible--which hopefully with be until she passes. At the moment, she needs 24-hour care, though it is mostly supervisory care. We currently have 45 hours of in-home helpers. We will need more as time progresses.
I write, mostly essays. I love politics. I play the piano, though not much recently. I meditate, following Buddhist traditions. I love to walk, read, argue, learn new things, and eat. Boy, do I love to eat. I am a foodie, and it shows.
I have found my soulmate in my current wife. She also struggles with her weight and health, but she has so many other good qualities that these things simply do not matter. We are coming up on our first anniversary next month.
I am also something of a geek. I love gadgets. Hope to get the Droid phone app for this website. I am very computer literate. I was a math and psychology major undergrad. Minor was in physics and education.
My next life goal is to get my PhD and license and be the only psychologist in my county. They sure need one around here. I plan to get this degree and license by the time I retire in four years.
