Hello! I'm Becca--I am going into my third year at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and will be graduating next spring. I'm going to share a little be about myself as a person, as well as a little bit about why I am here on fatsecret.
First off, I love reading, writing, talking politics, questioning life, asking questions, and collecting random knowledge. Moreso, I enjoy spending time with family (especially my 2 nieces!) and friends, running 5Ks, and drinking tea! I study Political Science and Technical Writing and Communication. My passion is helping others and truly, what I strive for everyday is to make someone's understanding of the world a little better. Ultimately, I hope to run for elected office. (If you want to know more about my motives on this topic, reach out to me. I can talk for hours!)
I'm here (on fatsecret) because no matter how motivated and ambitious I am in other aspects of my life, when it comes to eating right I do well for a couple of months and then completely derail. My freshmen year of college I lost 10 lbs (down to 168 lb). Then in the fall (2013) I was down to 165 lb! However, life happened. A lot of life happened. When I weighed myself last May (2014) I was 182 lb. Talk about a slap in the face. The field I am going into requires confidence. Especially as a woman. My body image is something I have always struggled with--something I think my generation can direct blame at the media for. I want to be able to serve as a role model and support system for my two nieces and other women on their quest to self-confidence and self-awareness.
My goal is to make eating right my default, not the alternative I go to every now and again, and to make excercising regularly my me time and something I look forward to. I want this for LIFE. I want to increase my confidence and happiness in all aspects of my life. 150 lb is my goal weight. And ultimately, confidence is my overriding goal.
