I have always been a rather fit person. I was always involved with sports all the way through high school. I was on Varsity Swimming for all four years, and walked around with a six pack without having to keep my core tight. However, that was over 10 years ago.

I am a double degreed engineer, and most of my required work is at my desk. I was able to maintain most of my weight through college, and still did the occational weight training, but I was not "fit" by any stretch, especially by Shaun T's standards!

I received my first desk job in college, and that is when I realized that my body wasn't invincible. I packed on over 40 lbs, from 165 to 205, and actually liked my weight! Until I found out that I was 25 years old, with a cholesterol level of 266. My family has a history of high cholesterol, and my doctor wanted to medicate me. The little I knew about cholesterol medication, it was enough to say no. I visited a second doctor, and his opinion was the opposite of the pill pusher doctor I last visited. He told me to "get off my but and exercise" and "quit being lazy."

At that moment, I was determined to become healthy and feel good about my body once again. Two years of yo-yo-ing and I was able to drop down to 185, but my cholesterol level still hovered a shade over the desired value.

Then, I was introduced to Shaun T's Insanity program. I never considered myself out of shape, until I was humbled by Insanity. I was diligent with the program. Monitored my caloric intake on this website, and after the 60 day program, I dropped from 185 to 165. I was eager to find out what my cholesterol level was, and it resulted in 185, with my LDL being 115, and my HDL being 45 (both are good). My doctor didn't understand why I was 30 and wanting it tested, until I told him the story. He was pleased to hear that I had determination to lower my cholesterol, the natural way, the way it should be.

I am living proof that cholesterol medication is not needed!

New & I have a few questions!!
1) Running is considered high impact, and REALLY taxing on your body. I never run because I don't like it, personally. There is nothing more efficient with getting you in shape than calisthenics (using your own body weight as resistance). I personally love Insanity, but my wife loves Turbo Fire. I like programs like these because they have a routine you can follow, so you aren't dependent on your own will power to keep you going. You just follow the schedule.

2) you don't need to exercise to lose weight, and you can out eat any exercise regime. Period. Calories in vs. calories out is all that matters to lose weight. I am in Afghanistan, on my feet all day in 110°F heat and exercise 6 days a week, and have still managed to put on 5 lbs in 6 weeks, so I am living proof of that.

3) I am not a fan of protein drinks because you really don't need them and I think they are a waste of money. You can get all you need from diet alone for protein. I am able to eat 150g of protein a day, just through eating a balanced diet (which is about 70g more than I actually need).

4) See answer 3.

5) Never heard of it. Calories is all that matters.

Begin with step one...keep track of your food intake on this website (and associated app), and take it from there one step at time. Don't plunge in with both feet and get overwhelmed and lose motivation. Note it is helpful and motivating to hang out with people that share the same goals as you in the diet/exercise realm. You will feed off each other and more likely to stick with your program.

Food Entries Missing
When I go to My Diet Calendar, I get the following error message, "You have not yet added any food or exercises to your diet calendar.

How do I sync the diet entries on my android app with the Fatsecret website?

Food Entries Missing
Ever since I added the Facebook app for Fatsecret, my diet calendar is missing all of my entries. They still show up on my Android phone, however.

Does anyone know why this is, or how to fix it? Thanks in advance.

Deleted Diet Calendar Entries
I added that new fatsecret app to my FB page, and now all of my diet calendar information on fatsecret is gone!!!!

Does anyone know what happened to them and how to get them back? Thanks in advance.
