I'm a mid life male. Happy to be living, and thrilled to be focused on being in the best shape of my life. I've lived an "eat what you want" life for many years. I've always thought of myself as healthy, regardless of the fact that I've almost always carried at least 15-20 lbs. extra around.

My wife can conjure up some of the most amazingly tasty meals(out of anything), but this last year I told her I wasn't feeling right. My wife told me to go to the Doctor. I refused! Why go pay someone to tell you the obvious? I need to lose weight, and exercise more. I bought a book called the Glycemic Load Diet, and thoughtfully SHE read it. I'm thankful for a giving person in my life who is supportive of a change in intake.

I've tried different so called "diets" before, but never made it to the end/goal weight I should be at. I attribute this to not knowing proper intake and balance. I've enjoyed a diet coke 2-3 times a day for the past 7+ years, and I'm done with that. It's time to make the second half of my life the healthiest half.

I enjoy sports like golf, basketball, Snowboarding, and racquetball. Until recently I've stayed off the basketball court, and off the slopes for fear of injuring a severely overweight body.

Ironic, I was hitting the racquetball court twice a week for a couple months(talk about calorie burning action). I guess I pushed myself too hard, because my fear manifested in the form of a ruptured achilles in my right foot. Down for a couple months now. Good thing I've got this intake thing under control.

need a buddy (sounds lonely)
It's not just about will power. There are some factors that contribute to craving even ruining a days work by eating too much end of day.

I read somewhere that you should eat 60-65% of your caloric intake by 2:00 pm. When my calories are low early in the day, I crave in the evening.

Another factor is actual intake choice. Check out this site:
www.beyonddiet.com
Watch the video about processed foods, and sugared or artificially flavored drinks.

This video is very long, but super insightful. I take in most of my carbs as freshly juiced (JackLaLanne juicer). It helps keep my energy up. I really don't have an energy problem, and my intake is VERY low.

Good Luck,
Winning

Help PLEASE
Exercise is a vital key to health, but Diet is most important. I've been layed up for a month with a ruptured achilles tendon, surgery 3 weeks ago, and yet with virtually no exercise I'm losing the same amount of weight on average then when I was getting 2-3 days per week of intense activity. I've ELIMINATED processed foods, and man made sugar. Aside from my dark chocolate treats(2 small pieces per most days) I don't eat junk. The weight is dropping off 1-2 lbs EVERY WEEK. I look forward to the mobility to be able to put in GYM time again.

Conservative here too. I let the system default activity give me a number, and focus on a daily deficit(green arrow pointing down).
GOOD LUCK.

Green Tea HP
Anyone have any experience with Green Tea HP? I've read a bit online, but not enough info found there to base the decision on whether or not to use it.

It's amazing how people say they are eating healthy while pounding down english muffins with peanut butter, pasta every day, only getting the Jr menu from Mcdonalds, drinking regular Coke, etc. Some people think whatever they slap on their plate is one serving when it could 4 or more.

I guarantee you every single person on here was shocked when they added up all the things they eat in a day and were completely honest about it. I have cut a huge amount of calories just by eliminating BBQ sauce, sour cream, and things like that.

You need an honest baseline to figure out what to do next. Lot's of people here are very willing to offer advice and assistance.

This is so true! Take the time to learn more about the types of foods taken in. I learned about processed foods, and sweetened drinks(including artificially sweetened) at www.beyonddiet.com . I was amazed. I've cut all drinks down to milk and water only. greatly reduced processed foods, and focus on a proper intake balance of Carbs vs Protien vs Fat. Balance, and eliminating the junk will shed the pounds quicker than you can say HOW MUCH DID I LOSE THIS WEEK?
