Hey, I'm a 27 (about to be 28) year old husband and soon to be father. I had been a bit overweight for most of my life but it started to be a real problem in college and then married life immediately thereafter. Then in the fall/winter of '09 my blood pressure was climbing into an unhealthy range and I was showing signs of pre-diabetic symptoms. So I knew I needed to make a change. With a lot of prayer, much encouragement from my wife (who lost 40 lbs herself and then she conceived...yay!), and crushing the P90X program since January, I have lost over 50 lbs., dramatically lowered my blood pressure, and am down to about 9% to 10% body fat. I did not follow the P90X diet though...I'm way too much of a foodie (not bad for you food, GOOD tasting food).
My weight loss came simply through creating and maintaining a daily caloric deficit. There is no better way to lose weight and to maintain weight. For those of you who are struggling...make this habit of counting calories a part of your life and you will succeed!
