I've done the "yo-yo" thing all my life, going from one extreme to another. I've weighted from 93 lbs. to 290 lbs.; gone from a size 8 to a size 26 many times. I've been everything from a total couch potatoe to an exercise fanatic.
I'm now a 55 yr. old Grandma who MUST be serious about weight loss and healthy eating habits and exercise. I want to see my grandbabies grow-up! I've recently started Metformin for diabetes managment and had a stent placed in the LAN artery. I've got 100 lbs. to loose. I'm loosing a pound a day, but I know that won't last forever and there's some hard work ahead of me. I'm currently in physical rehab to get me moving again without endangering my health futher. And the the tools on this site are a great help, especially being able to enter my own recipes to see where they need improving.
God help me!

21 Months Later
It's been 21 months since I joined this site and a bit has changed. I continued doing the "yo-yo" with my weight, hitting a high of 290 lbs. and a size 26Shock
Before things turned around for me, I found a new doctor who sent me to diabetic classes where I learned the how & why of nutrition for type II diabetes and put the information to good useArrow
Now 90 lbs. lighter with a normal 6.0 A1C level; I'm off heart and blood pressure medications. I will remain on Metformin due to insulin resistance. I feel so much better with the excess weight off, I'm very motivated to finish the job. The only problem is taking this much weight off at my age, gravity is not my friend and toning is proving to be a problem. However since my Grandson asked, "Can you run now?", I'm sure my Grandkids will be happy to helpLaughing

YO-YO Feast/Famine
I've done the "yo-yo" thing all my life, going from one extreme to another. I've weighted from 93 lbs. to 260 lbs.; gone from a size 8 to a size 24, many times. I've been everything from a total couch potatoe to an exercise fanatic.
I'm now a 53 yr. old Grandma who MUST be serious about weight loss, healthy eating habits and exercise. I've recently started Metformin for diabetes managment and had a stent placed in my LAN artery. I had 100 lbs. to loose when I started this diet. I'm currently in physical rehab to get me moving again without endangering my health further.
The the tools on this site are a great help, especially being able to enter my own recipes to see where they need improving. I didn't agree with the daily calorie intake showed for me, which was 2000 calories. Instead, I entered the daily intake suggested by my doctor which was 1600 and I'm finding it hard to even eat that amount.
Where I've made the biggest change is by eating 3 meals a day along with 2 snacks. I've eaten only 1 meal a day for a very long time. I was told that by doing so my body was in "famine/feast" mode, which meant that it didn't know when I was going to eat again so everything I ate was stored as fat. It didn't matter if I only ate 500 calories a day and used 1500, I wasn't going to lose weight. I'm loosing a pound a day now,(14 lbs. so far), but I know that won't last forever and there's some hard work ahead of me. But Im not afraid of hard work cause I want to see my grandbabies grow-upExclamation
