O.k., so I'll open up a bit more. I was a skinny little kid whose metabolism tanked at 18... COMPLETELY. Then began family degradation (WOW, you've put on weight! ...and much worse) and loss of positive body image. Have struggled since that time with roller coaster weight.
I became a mom at age 40. BEST thing that ever happened to me. I'm blessed. I'm o.k. with my body's perfect imperfections now (self epiphany), but my blood pressure is in the initial stages of hypertension. I want to be around for my child for a LONG TIME. As my weight has climbed, so has my blood pressure. I'm a realist. I need to do this for my child as well as myself. Optimum weight = health (and hopefully long life). I tell my child, "Don't say I can't, say I'll try." I'm trying...
