I decided to be open minded and sign up for Bob Greene's "The Best Life" website. I did a lot of debating on whether it was a good idea, food wise, to try his program. I finally realized that I am obviously NOT getting the right amoung of fruits, veggies, fibre, and grain in my diet so why not try his program. I intend to substitute foods for those that I know aren't on the SBD, since I'm insulin resistant and am very sensitive to the complex carbs. His program is rather nice in that he tells you what to eat each day, he gives you a grocery list for the week, and the recipes. He also gives you videos of different exercises to do and keeps track of your exercise. From what I understand, the website keeps track of your daily progress, water included, and makes modifications as necessary. I'm not sure how this will work for me but I've decided I want to be a part of "The Best Life Challenge 2008". This has to be my year for getting healthy. I feel as though what I've been doing hasn't worked and I'm not sure what it is that I'm missing...other than a little more guidance.

You have to do what works for you. I think his diet is very similar to phase 2 of SB. a little less strict. I am reading the book adn thought about kind of combining the 2. SB and Best Life. Both are great ways of living.

There is NO WAY I'm giving up! Not one little bit! I can't and won't! I want to be one of those success stories that makes me cry! Yep! I wanna make myself cry from my own success! LOL My hubby is going on a 2 week trip to CA next week. I think I'm going to do a little research and find myself some good local trails and plan a couple of excursions on the weekends he's gone. Maybe take a day trip, go on a little hike (more like walk on a good trail), take a picnic lunch...and just start enjoyin' the good ol' outdoors! My old life has to go! It's time for some adventure! I want Cierra to grow up enjoying life, exercise, fresh air, good food...I want her to see a great role model in me!

I have to admit...I'm a little aprehensive about venturing out on my own, as far as finding some walking trails to enjoy. However, if I don't take a step out of my comfort zone, I will remain the same ol' me! I don't want that! Anybody have any ideas on how to find local walking trails and parks? I'm sure there has to be something online.

That sounds good to me. Good Luck. I know that you can do it. Keep us posted on how you're doing. To find a walking trail near your home, check with the chamber of commerce.

When I lived there, there were bike shops and other adventure companies that had maps of trails. Call a bike shop, I bet they can help you. And I am so proud of you for looking into what's best for you. Yes, like graciepoo I think Bobs plan is very similar to sb phase 2 and 3. You need to do what's best for you and your body. I was reading an article today about using the power of the mind to lose weight. One example was to write a note and put it on your fridge and read it aloud a few times day, saying a positive message about why you should eat healthier, "I would love to live a healthy long life to be a good example for my children." or, "I want to be able to wrap a normal sized towel around my body again." This works for a lot of people. I don't know if that would have done it for me. LOL You go get 'em girl and please keep us updated along your journey, we're still your team here!

I am with ImLuuvd - we need to be good examples for our children. My daughter is now eating healthier and exercising because she can see how much healthier I am and on the flip side - she doesn't want me to be thinner than her - LOL - now how is that for inspiration!

I'm not planning to leave fatsecret... I intend to stay a part of this as I need the support. I just need to add something to what I'm doing. I hope that's okay! lol

You do what is best for you! I think that is a number one key factor when trying to change your lifestyle. Seriously how many "diets" are out there? No two people are alike, and there is no one "diet" for one person. This is your journey on a healthier life...and you make the choice on how do it. You can do it...I want to see u on Oprah LOL.
