Hermiones Mom's Journal, 02 August 2016

Yeah, yeah. Life has intervened, and although I haven't done anything really crazy, I haven't been holding my calorie count down far enough, and while traveling most of the month of July, I wasn't getting regular exercise either. So now I'm trying to right the ship. Also, I've promised myself not to weigh in again until Labor Day, so I have a month for my body to get back on board with this routine, and I'm not torturing myself with week-to-week fluctuations. Don't know if I can make it for a month off the scale, but I will try. Honestly, I'm feeling pretty lucky to have only gained 2+ pounds in the past month, considering...
161.6 lb Lost so far: 72.4 lb.    Still to go: 19.6 lb.    Diet followed poorly.

You can do it!!!

Thanks, Pandasmom. I know I can -- but I feel like I'm in a big transition phase -- moving from phase 1, obesity to overweight, to phase 2, overweight to healthy weight. And I think that it might take a lot more work to get into this next phase. I've pretty much accepted that this summer is going to be that transition period and not a period of active weight loss, but we'll see how I do in August...

Put the scale away in a closet. Out of sight, out of mind. ;) You knew the summer was going to be a little chaotic. You're doing so well, and life DOES go on.

Thanks so much mskestrela -- I really appreciate the encouragement. And you are so right: I actually have only had a scale in the house for about six months. Before that, I was dropping by my doctor's office one a month and weighing in then. I think I was happier with that method!

I feel like once I am overweight, I would just want to hang there for awhile. It's still skinny to me. I I mean, don't we wantbto get some idea what it will take to maintain our new weight?

It does get challenging once we are in balance - every little thing causes fluctuations. I had a hard July, too - we both can regroup!

LadyinDenim I think you are exactly right. More than anything, the past month has given me a sense of how to hold my own going forward -- and in a way I suppose it's encouraging that I made it through the month without a huge gain, and I stayed pretty aware of what was going on with my diet and my body. And now I have to move forward...let's make August work for us!
