I haven't lost a pound, my hap wellness check was a mess. My A1C was up to 8.5 I don't know what I'm doing wrong. This is a normal day for me: Breakfast, 1 packet of cream of wheat, with 2 spenda sweeter, 1/4 of English walnuts, and 1/2 teaspoon country crock, 1 10 oz of coffee with 2 splenda. and sugar free French vanilla creamer.
Lunch: 2 cups raw veggies like cauliflower, carrots, cucumbers with low fat ranch dressing for dipping only. 3 slices oven roasted turkey breast, 1 wedge laughing cow cheese, and 3-8 crackers depending on the type and calorie per serving, 12 oz. Sobe water.
Dinner: generally is light like 1/4 baked or slow cooker chicken breast, 1/2 cup brown rice, fresh or frozen veggies, cup of decaf hot tea. Snack: Popsicle, or popcorn, cracker-cheese pack. My general calorie intake for the day is around 900-1200 calories. I don't get to exercise like I should but I generally average 7-10,000 steps per day at work. I just don't understand what else I can do. Any suggestions??
186.8 lb Lost so far: 7.2 lb.    Still to go: 21.8 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Merrylake Gal, you need to transform your body into a fat burning machine and you can not do that on a severely calorie restricting diet. As a certified nutrition advisor I assist people in not only losing weight as a symptom of getting healthy but also turning their bodies into a machine which turns everything they eat into energy instead of fat. I would be happy to give you a personal consult if you like. Send an email to fitnfree88@gmail.com if you would like my assistance.

Sounds to me like you are using a lot of artificial sweetners. To me they are pure poison.

My suggestion, because it helped me a lot, is to focus on getting enough lean protein in your calories. I used to do all that counting and figuring and worrying about my nutrition, when a body builder friend told me how important protein and aminos are to becoming lean. I even have a lean protein shake every morning to make sure I get enough and because I don't like to eat breakfast. It changed my life. I have lost 50 pounds, it took a year, but it is staying off now. I attribute this to simply using a salad plate as a dinner plate and I pack half or more of my entree when eating out BEFORE I even take that first bite...I cannot tell you how many calories that simple move has saved me. Plus, unfortunately, at first, it just takes LOTS of patience to have your diet changes kick your metabolism into gear. Trust me, it WILL happen if you keep it up don't give up, I bet you are on the cusp of tha metabolism kickin in... Best wishes to you...I do know what it's like and now I am finally, after many many moons and diets, on the other side of those pounds...it will happen for you The main thing is to give yourself a break, do give yourself tons of credit for working so hard and know that metabolisms do kick in, just at very different paces for each of us. Some of us have to be way more patient, as unfair as it feels. I know you are going to get there, even though I don;t know you. I just feel it

Oh, the average person should get a minimum of 50 grams of lean protein per day I like to get 70 grams. It is slightly different for each of us, but I know I feel best when I at least get 50 The average meat portion will have 15-25 grams.

By the way, I did this with little exercise, as a medical condition prevented me from doing much. I do like to walk, but admit I don't do that as often.I know I need more, but we can get our metabolism going without having to workout intensely every day

I think Lisabryant1 offered some good advice. I also suggest that you dump the artificial sweetener.

Protein is good but you must be very careful that you have the proper balance of digestive enzymes in your diet or you will not be able to breakdown the protein as needed which could result in Leaky Gut Syndrome which will critically inhibit your weight loss efforts. People who do not have the proper balance of these enzymes are only able to absorb 8-10 grams of protein per hour and the rest is forced into the Microvilli, tearing the tissue and allowing the excess protein and bacteria to leak out into your bloodstream. This is not good but I see it almost daily in my practice.

Thank you all for your suggestions I will work on getting more lean protein into my diet, as for the sweeters that is another story. I am also an insulin dependent diabetic so using real sugar or honey is out. I have started using stevia, as of this week, so hopfully it is a better solution. Because life with out sweet; is not one I want to live. Dieting has become rocket science, back when I was in my 20's "1970's" you just lower you calories and increased your exercise. Now it seems we need a PhD. to loose a few pounds, where in the heck do I find out about the proper digestive enzymes? I'm a nurse for God sakes, and I don't know all this stuff, how would a non-medical, lay person be able to figure out what is what? Thank God for Google. Happy Easter everyone! Merrylake gal

Merrylake gal, as a certified nutrition advisor I work closely with physicians and other healthcare practitioners, as doctors do not receive much nutritional education in med school. I work with diabetics every day and we have an amazing weight loss program which is not only very safe but extremely effective. As a nurse I encourage you to check out Sanoviv Medical Institute at www.sanoviv.com
