271.4!!

<a href="http://www.fatsecret.com/member/BrandyRelaxing"><img src="http://www.fatsecret.com/ticker/BrandyRelaxing.gif"></img></a>

So it's not the 269 I was shooting for to be before my vacation, but I realized that a while ago, I was just really hoping by some miracle it would work. But for me, there are no miracles, just hard work! I think all of you will say that same!

I do have to stop the "cheater weigh-ins" because yesterday I saw 270.8, and was super excited, and today I'm up. I'm sure it's just "transitional weight", but that's okay.

I found my body fat scale in the basement, and used it on August 7th, and then again today. So according to that scale, I've lost 3 pounds of fat, and according to my other scale (which I deem my weight only scale and the official authority on how much I've lost), I've lost 4.8 pounds in the last 3 weeks. So I consider that a win! I'd love it all to be fat, but I'm just happy that the majority is fat!

So today is my day to work on my assignment that is due while I'm away on vacation, buy new bras (because I can put my whole hand in my bra and still have lots of room!), and any other little loose ends I need to do before vacation.

Does anyone have any tips on how to eat reasonably while on vacation? I don't intend on restricting myself a lot, but I do need to watch portion sizes, and often that's my downfall! The restaurant brings a big plate and I have that "there are starving kids in Africa" mentality, and have to eat it all!

Long and short of it... It was an awesome weigh in and if I can come back next week at the same weight, I'll be a REALLY happy girl!

My other thought for the week is to remember "You have to decide what you want to do, lose weight or stay fat? If you choose to do nothing, you are choosing to stay fat."

Brilliant (and awesome) weigh-in, nonetheless Brandy girl! So proud of you. Enjoy your vacation immensely. Hi to your sister.

Thanks Heather! I'd always love to have a lower weigh-in, but it's great that I lost 2.4 pounds... that's a great week for me!

I would try to avoid the carbish stuff. So when you get like chicken and rice pilaf, dont eat the rice, or order from the app. menu. Have the dressing on the side of your salad. Order clear soup and not cream soups. Only eat half. When they bring your dinner ask for a to go box and put half in the box right away. Drink loads and loads of water.

I'm a plate-cleaner too, & a tendency both DH & I always had as fat, lazy people was to make sure that whenever we ate, we had enough food to be sure we wouldn't have to get up again once we started eating. This went for home as well as out...make sure you order enough so that you don't have to order something else. And 99 times out of 100 I'd recognize a point long before all my food was gone where I could have stopped & been satisfied...if that had been all that was on my plate. Even now when we go out, I still find myself thinking "make sure you order enough" in the back of my mind, it's so crazy! What I'm getting at is: Don't be afraid to order small if you know you tend to overeat at restaurants. I've ordered off the Kids' Menu more than once. I told myself, "start with this, eat it slowly & take a sip of water between bites. When you're done, wait a few minutes then decide if you're still hungry, then order something else if you are." Not saying I do this EVERY time (though I probaby should lol), but giving yourself permission to not order everything at once can help.

I just did some bra shopping recently too. I would suggest you get a good measurement done so you get the best fit. I did that and she also suggested the best styles for my body type.....boy what a difference, I went from a 46DD to a 44C and was able to get some really cute styles that work best for me. Don't know where you plan on buying but if you have a local megamall, anyone of the large anchor stores will measure you in their lingerie department. (ie: Macy's etc)

For bra shopping I usually go to Penningtons and Addition-Elle. They're two plus sized stores. I have a type of bra that I TOTALLY love, and am hoping I can just grab a smaller size. The "too big" bras I'm wearing now (and was wearing at 340 pounds) are a 46DD, so we'll see what I end up with. I'm hoping 42DD... of course, that's probably way too aggressive! LOL

And Kat - that's actually a great idea to order multiple small items. Last time we went to Red Lobster, we ordered an appetizer, then the meals, which came with the salad, the garlic cheese buns and then the meal... boy were we stuffed before we started our meals, but none-the-less made it through our dinners. Still old habits I guess!

Are grocery stores an option when you are on vacation? If they are that is my vacation trick - I eat from a grocery store for breakfast and lunch and then have a nice dinner - my DH and I have noticed that the nicer the restaurant (read more expensive) the healthier the food - we figured that since we saved on breakfast and lunch we could spend a little more on dinner. I also have serious food restrictions so often I will order grilled meat or fish and ask if I can substitute a salad or veggies for the potatoes or rices (or other starch).

How do ya'll usually eat when you go on vacation? When we go, we usually eat breakfast and lunch at the condo, and then go big for our supper meal. I was thinking when we go on vacation (hopefully next year), I will eat my healthy meals for breakfast and lunch, maybe add a few healthy snacks in between, so I'm just not ravenous (like I usually am) when we go out to supper, then allow my supper to be my "cheat" meal, but try not to go crazy. My Aunt (hubby's aunt, but she is only about 7 yrs older than us) did Weight Watchers a few years ago, and she half way watched it, ate what she wanted, but didn't go crazy, and she lost on her next weigh in after she got back. Like for me, I would have to make my vacation not an excuse to drink Cokes, because they are my absolute weakness, and lead to a lot of extra calories I don't need, but if I want a steak, I'll get the leaner cut, and I won't eat a complex carb with it (stick with a salad, green beans, or grilled veggies). If you eat poultry or fish (grilled), then you can have the bake potato. Don't go crazy, but don't let yourself feel deprived. If you want me to explain the red meat and no complex carb thing, feel free to PM me. It is something I learned from doing a local diet here (Thrive), and it's a method used to make your body burn fat more efficiently.

We haven't been on a real vacation since we started eating better/less. So when we were on vacation, we would just eat out for all meals, and that lead to a TON of calories (not that we were cognisant of that!).

Maybe I missed it but where are you going on vacation? We always make sure to drink tons of H2O and walk everywhere possible. Breakfast usually consists of scrambled eggs w/wheat toast, some yogurt and fresh fruit. Lunch is very light. We are usually somewhere with a poolside menu so we share an order of fish tacos or something like that. Dinner is usually a little more upscale avoiding the usual chain restaurants. Stick with seafood or another lean broiled protein or minus rich sauces, I usually have them double the fresh veg selection and hold the potato so we can then split a little dessert if we feel like it later after dinner settles.

We're going to Vancouver and Whistler. We were going to make a stop at a grocery store to buy some supplies when we're in Whistler, not sure about Vancouver because we don't have a kitchen area.

Ohhh... and on a BOOB related note - my new bras are 42DDD... I am sure I could have fit into a 44DD as well, but given I intend on continuing to shrink, I went with the smaller option around. CRAZY!!!

Brandy well done with your great weight loss so far....I need to go and get measured, I went from a 44DDD to a 40DD, but I think I didn't get the right size as my boob is popping a little out of the bottom. So difficult to get the right size......at least not popping out of the top.....LOL While out of town, I try to do eggs for breakfast, then just do a salad with shrimp or chicken, then for dinner veggies and protein.....try to have sauces on the side. Plus the salt on the veggies can throw me off course

I can't say enough about having a proper-fitting bra. I just had my teenager professionally measured yesterday & got her some great bras that fit PERFECTLY. And under your clothes, they make you look slimmer. Quadriboob is a pet peeve of mine (I have many, this is one). I've even seen Octoboob before...way worse. I get that bras are expensive...but investing in at least one good quality one is an absolute necessity, especially if you're well-endowed!

Uniboob drives me crazy too! (along with tri boob/quad boob etc) I don't mind spending extra money on bras that actually fit, they not only help you look slimmer but they kind of make you feel sexier too!

I have seen quad in the front AND back before...they make back smoothing bras now ladies!! Take note! lol

Oh ACK.. that is terrible, how can someone think that looks good? I dislike sideboob.. and when you are fat it sometimes is difficult to hide the side boob but good fitting clothes and a decent bra can mask it!
29 Aug 11 by member: pixidaisy
LOL... I ended up buying 5 bras! I'm not cutting corners here... they need to be held up or I'm going to be looking like I'm 30 years older... and I'm only 31! LOL I do totally hate the "uni-boob" thing too, although, it seems necessary for work-out wear, but I'm okay with that - whatever has to happen in order for them not to jump around, I'm all for! I do have to question how you'd get Octoboob??
29 Aug 11 by member: BrandyRelaxing
Oh I get uniboob if you are working out - thats different.. my girls need to be contained but out in public shopping/or night out?? no that is not ok. Octoboob sounds very awkward and uncomfortable...lol please explain it.
