janebennett's Journal, 11 April 2015

So very disappointed, I have tried really hard this week and kept my carbs down, yet I still put on 1 1/2 pounds, (just where did that come from?). I also decided to take the advise of the wonderful people here and walked the dogs 4 times last week after work even though it was a struggle and hurt. The down side of more exercise is having to take more painkillers and then I struggle with constipation (sorry to mention this for those of a delicate nature).
I am not going to give up though, I think I will try to carry on with the walking, (I don't think the dogs will let me stop) and will do it every day next week after work. I have a good supply of painkillers and I am hoping that maybe if I can loose this weight things wont hurt so much and I wont have to take so many. I will try to drink more water and watch my dairy fats as that may be where I am going wrong.
Right, now I have put it in writing I shall have to do it, I am not going to give up this time

It will come off. Sometime's our bodies are stubborn. LOL. Also, if you just started walking, you may be gaining more muscle (which is good) and losing inches. The numbers will go down.

I looked at your food intake. You could try eating more foundation veggies & less protein. The body is stubborn, especially when you have lower calorie count, I'm guilty of that. The weight will drop off eventually ;)

when i get stuck , i do the same, add more veggies and water and less meats and cheese and dairy is my arch nemesis , when even i add yogurt or cottage cheese , i stall so i only have it once a week now. I also have issue with things flowing smoothly, wink wink.. kale helps and a bit of fiber with breakfast.. the powdered kind.. Also, i cut out any diet sodas and atkins bars and shakes. Maybe try yoga? It works wonders for my mom when she is in pain ..

If you're having more constipation due to the pain meds, honestly, that extra weight could just be extra waste that's sitting around.

Pain killers do that to me too. They also make me retain water. Maybe that's where the weight came from. Stay strong and keep eating healthy. Maybe next week you'll lose double. Prune juice helps with the constipation as does OTC Colace and such.

Thanks for all the advise, it really does help and I honestly don't feel as if I am struggling on my own now.

Try fruits! They are very helpful for me. Stay upbeat - the weight will come off if you stick with it. I also agree that pain killers will constipate you. Good Luck!

Put miralax in your coffee or tea every morning, that's what my husband does. He's on pain meds also. Stool softener every nite helps too.

Hang in there, I've been struggling for the last three months as well and have the opposite problem from constipation... I keep reading the Atkins new diet book over and over to see what I'm doing wrong, and with the exception of skipping meals (a bad habit) that's about it. It's got to come of at some point and in the book there is a story of one woman who's weight loss journey took a couple of years -- I keep reading that one for inspiration.
