mrsmole's Journal, 20 June 2014

Met a friend for lunch and instead of eating the 1200 calorie Chef Salad with blue cheese dressing, I went for the buffet with sliced turkey and corn. Saved over 600 calories that way. Very pleased with my decision. I'm starting to see that I can still go out and have fun with friends without having to regret what I ate. Until I reach my goal, I'm not ready to act like I'm on maintenance.

Because I've lost 75 pounds, everyone is calling me "skinny". I smile and thank them graciously, but sometimes I want to shout, "I still weigh over 200 pounds! Stop calling me skinny!" However, I have to realize that they were used to seeing me at 280, to to them, I am skinny. It's all relative. I do appreciate the support, but after nearly 8 weeks of struggling with a stalemate or plateau for lack of a better word, it just gets frustrating.

Good night at the gym. The heat here in Palm Springs, even at night (102 degrees at 9PM right after the sun sets) makes my workout feel harder than it really is. Treadmill was brutal but good.

Five pounds to 199. I will not likely get there by my original goal date of July 4th, but I can probably get there by my birthday, July 18th.

I plan to readjust my entire weight loss goal for one pound a week for the next 55 pounds which mean that by this time next year, I should be at 150 if I can keep up this pace. It sounds daunting, but if my body is only willing to shed that amount, which it would appear, I can't argue with it. I can accept it or bitch about it. I'd rather accept it.

I am proud of you for actually researching that salad, a lot of people think just because you're eating a salad you're eating healthy...truth is, most salads from restaurants are worse for you than a big ole burger...case in point: Taco Bells Chipotle Steak Salad is 740 calories, the same amount of calories in 4 1/2 crispy tacos...a Big Mac is 550 calories, the same amount of calories in their Bacon Ranch Crispy Chicken Salad...so good for you right???!!!! NOT!!! I did a lot of research on restaurant salads for my AdvoCare group and it is shocking how awful some of those are for you!!! GOOD FOR YOU!!!

I internally cringe from the 'you are so skinny!' comments from people too. No, I'm not and we both know it. Tell me I'm looking good or whatever but skinny? Not even close.

Your doing great! I look up restaurant menu's and know pretty much ahead of time what I will order when I get there. So amazing how salads can be so full of fat, sodium, sugar & calories Keep up the good work Your an inspiration!! God Bless!!

It sounds like you have a good plan in place for the rest of your weight loss journey. It's good to do your best and accept the rest, like you're doing. It seems like you've broken through your plateau. Good job!

I think your pace is fantastic and realistic. We all have good weeks and bad weeks and then hit the hated plateau that throws a wrench in everything. You have done so well, keep it up, I wish I had your motivation.

You are doing awesome!!!!! You will get there, and already what an awesome progress story! The plateaus suck, but if you like eggs, you can make those work for you. Scrambled, omelets, hard boiled keep you full for a long time and they have no carbs. You can have your salad too--ordering dressing on the side, then dip the fork into the dressing then pick up the vegetables/lettuce, rather than putting the dressing on it directly. Also, you can make your own delicious low fat version by blending buttermilk and blue cheese together!
