Ms Elizabeth's Journal, 06 September 2012

OK I give. I weigh 170. The scale has been saying 170.0 for 3 days in a row now. Hopefully now that I've logged it and admitted it the scale will continue it's downward curve. The good news is I double checked my goal for the end of the year and I have a little over a pound a week to weigh 150 before the end of the year. I can do that! Especially if I stop eating candy and fudge and ice cream and cheesburgers... And all those things you're not supposed to eat when your trying to lose weight. Today is day one of no candy. Nada.. none... hmmm.. I wonder if I will make it until after lunch before I cave. Darn you sweet tooth!

And now on to not so unrelated observations.. Ever notice when you're trying to lose weight and get into better shape that you seem to notice other peoples bodies more? At least I think this is why it happens. We went to the fair again Sunday and stayed over by the rides for a few hours while 8 yr old whirled, flipped, and had the stuffing shaken out of her. I have never seen so many women look so uncomfortable in my entire life! There were muffin tops, shorts so tight there were muffin lows (Where the shorts are so tight in the legs that there is a muffin top coming out the bottom of the shorts and the tops). I stared. I admit it. I openly stared at women who I'm pretty sure used pliars and the jaws of life to get their clothes on. Now I know the latest fashion is skinny jeans, skinny tops, skinny skin things. Honestly.. I'm ok being unfashionable if it means not having to have my shorts surgically removed from my crotch because the only place they can ride is up! Who in their right mind said hey.. Skinny Jeans! Awesome! And why did everyone follow in this trend?!?! It only looks cute on someone who's anorexic!

lol DFW - I totally agree with dressing weight appropriately - one of my pet hates is seeing white leggings on large women...I mean they look bad enough on thin women, but they are sooooo unforgiving on any lumps and bumps! But you are so right you do start seeing people's shapes more - I've often wondered if I should print FS details on cards and hand them out, although I'm likely to get punched!!

How true this is. Before I started losing weight I could have cared less about other women's bodies. Now I compare. And OMG! the way some of them dress. I often wonder if they looked in the mirror before they walked out the door and thought, "I look hot today."

With the way some of the younger girls were shaking their muffins... I'm pretty sure they did leave the house thinking "I look hot!" You just reminded me... I need to buy a full length mirror still and FAST!

LOL about the muffin bottoms...I notice people too...and I am thinking the same thing..surely they know that it looks bad..my clothes are probably too loose..but I can't stand any thing tight..:O)

LOL, it seems like a fair or concert or any outdoor event is the perfect place to people watch and be shocked and awed at how people leave the house!!

Hmm, from a guy's perspective it could be a few things...There are some men who find BBW's (Big Beautiful Women) attractive with muffin tops/bottoms et al. Those guys will like the style of dress that reveals all and leaves nothing to the imagination. Then there is the second reason, guys will seek out the women who dress overly tight because they believe it to be a sign of sexual availability. Right or wrong...that is what I know from some of the dudes I have spoken with. Now me, I like a thick gal but not an obese thick gal. I am latin so I hate the waif/anorexic look where you can see bones and stuff. Nope, give me a woman with a nice rear and curves and I will be happy. I am not much into boobs per se (they do look mighty nice) but the backside is where its at. So in conclusion, there may be reasons these women, if you look at it from a guy perspective, wear these items...to attract Men who like BBWs and to attract sexual attention. I honestly don't get the skinny jeans phenomenon...I like the apple-bottom phenomenon.... Ok back to work..

Argh...sre you kidding me? I have seen so many "what not to wear" people it is ridiculous. I agree - did they even look on the mirror before they purchased it or decided to walk out of the house? A my heaviest, I knew how to camouflage the worst aspects!

I was at the fair Sunday too but I was certainly NOT one of those you were oogling lol!! I will never understand it. I still have an issue with anything even semi fitted.Next year we are popping on a bench and people watching while the kids hit the rides :-)!! And even if I weighed 100 I would NEVER wear skinny jeans!

One things for sure.. people watching is motivating! It feels wrong that it should be motivating.. but it is. lol

Hey if they don't care how they look at least it's helping me!

I agree that I don't understand why people wear things that are clearly not meant for their body. I am wearing a new dress today and it is fitted, but when I was larger, I would not have wanted to be seen in anything fitted or too small. I will post a picture in my journal today, since HCB wanted to see my new dress and you guys can tell me what you think. :)
