Don't mind me.. just randomly rambling. Ok.. so I've been reading alot about boosting breastmilk, keeping my hair from thinning anymore, and getting little man the vitamins he needs. A common theme seems to keep reappearing.. eat alot of protein.... among other advice... but eat more protein keeps reappearing. For some reason this clicks in my mind as eat more protein and eliminate processed sugars and carbs. Probably because this was the way I ate before I got pregnant with little man. Then pregnant me LOVED carbs.

Ok.. so the whole eat more protein and less processed crap is clicking with me. I've been eating alot of bread because it's convenient.. plate free one handed meals were necessary there for a while. I've been eating sugar because.. I have magic boobs and I can. HA! But... I also realize that magic boobs won't last forever and I need to eat better. So I'm playing around with the whole limiting carbs and upping the protein diet. I did this before and did Atkins starting off with 20 net carbs, eating lots of greens.. blah blah blah AND it worked. Sugar cravings went away, felt great, had more energy, etc.

This time in my reading I noticed there is some debate on low carb while breastfeeding and the recommendation seems to be to start out in Maintenance 25-45 carbs a day since the whole magic boob thing burns foods at an amazing rate and there isn't alot of research on magic boobs in ketosis. Which I agree.. I don't need ketosis to jump start any weight loss. But what happens to the sugar cravings? Do they still go away if you're starting out in Maintenance? Is 45 carbs enough? Should I still count calories and get 1800-2000 a day? If I remember right after a while without the sugar cravings and appetite control it was harder to remember to eat enough. Hmmm.. ok I'm done rambling.. for a little while at least.
