CJT1217's Journal, 13 August 2012

What a great weekend! Spent it down in Monterey for a wedding for one of my military coworkers. My team showed up in our service blues which the bride (my coworker, Tsgt with 12 years service in active and reserves) absolutely loved.

I wound up wearing my pants that I got in basic training 14 years ago. And my top well, I fit the one issued in basic as well, but it had the wrong stripes, so I had to settle for this baggy service coat. Last summer I was damn-near busting out of the seams. No more fat-boy airman, here!

So the weather down in Monterey was a beautiful 70 degrees. The hotel on the Naval Post-graduate school was great and the food and beer was just as good. Ya, there were kegs of beer and I took full advantage. Had some yumm cake and some nacho cheese doritos. Mm! Can't remember when the night ended, but between 3 of us, me and some buddies killed a bottle of Jameson :D

So the next day, I went down to Cannery Row and had some bomb clam chowder, deep fried calamari, and bacon wrapped scallops. Had a super burrito for dinner, and then that key lime pie I had sitting in the freezer from last monday. Sure, I gained a few lbs, but eff it. We all need a break from being strict to keep our sanity, right? I like to give in a little, just makes me work a little harder to reach my goal. And besides, I'm already coming up on one year from starting this journey. The 15th is one year!

You look amazing!! Love dress blues! Sounds like a great time over the weekend, and what makes it even better is that you did it w/out guilt! Love that!!!

Air force stripes right? You sound like my husband.. he was busting the seams of all of his uniforms and now they look ridiculous being so baggy! Good problem to have right?? Glad you had a great time at the wedding and enjoyed yourself some carbs!

Go AF! We have a wedding coming up too, but I'm positive my daughter will NOT be wearing her blues or her flight suit. Definitely something white. As far as the groom, I'm not sure yet. I'm amazed at all of the RSVPs coming in from all over the world. The wedding you attended sounds fantastic. I can only imagine how wonderful and close your extended family, a.k.a. team, must be. I hope to have a glimpse of that soon. Congrats on your transformation. Getting through your next PT will be a breeze.

Yes, definitely a good problem to have! haha. Ya, Jenkie, she calls us her "military family." With various missions under our belts, we all got really close and have made lifetime bonds. And yep, PT testing in December will be a breeze! Just gotta let this nar-nar calf muscle healed up and I'll be back tearing up trails and working on my 1.5 mile run time (PT personal goal will be 10:30!).

You know I love a man in uniform and awesome that you are back in the old one!! Looks like most of us had a fun weekend :-) Part of the transformation is learning how to live life and just not let it get away from us right? What fun would it be if we NEVER indulged? Yoou'll know our PT like never before I am quite sure.

I should have some more pics posted up from the event in the next couple days. And oh, how fun indulgence is... And "paying for it" by busting your ass working out can, in a twisted kind of way, be just as fun as well. It's just a lot easier when the body is at 100%!

good stuff. you earned it. your occasional indulgence is as controlled as the explosions in a car engine. glad to hear you had a great time with great friends, food, and drinks! that's living!

Awww Clifford - you look absolutely smashing in your uniform! You look like a respectable, responsible young man...LOL ! But WE all know better...Jameson and burritos! Seriously, thank you for serving and you look very handsome. I am impressed.

Clifford, my dad retired from the Air Force in 1972. He served for 20 years. Thanks so much for your service...and thank your wife as well. Glad you had a great time with your buddies!
