Behaving with the snackies and getting out there and huffing and puffing on the trails has finally got me off of the plateau! I actually blame the great weather and long days for this one... and the bike!
So, buying a used bike on craigslist has done wonders for me. A 180 buck investment for a used costco mountain bike of all things gets me out and about all the freakin time. Over the weekend I probably biked around 30 miles of hilly trails at local parks, and despite some steep inclines (grinders!), I've loved every second of it. I've coupled this with a simple home workout routine (incline pushups, situps, planks, side planks, dumbbell curl/shoulder press, lateral dumbbell raise, shrugs, and lat pulldown and rows (with my tower 200) and dig the results thus far. And then avoiding the processed/sugary/carby stuff and focussing more on protein based meals is still the main focus.
Weighed in at 179 this morn. The food and activity is working. I'm gonna keep on rockin it until I get that sixer!
So then what to do with my next 5 days off from work... If you have something like bahiker.com for your local area, it's really a great tool to find all sorts of different outdoor trails to check out. Using this, I think I've found a good 4 or 5 shorter trails I've never been at before to check out tomorrow. Friday or saturday I might check out something along the coast or the coastal side of San Francisco. All this possible thanks to having a damn bike. So, get a bike! Can't fit it in your car? You can always get a cheapo trunk rack that attaches with straps and mounts on in a minute. Luckily I have an Xterra now, so I can just fold down the back seats and toss the bike in the rear :)
And as for Memorial Day... oh man, bbq, cold drinks, and the sun. Good luck with staying on top of things that day! I think I'll stick to my good old whiskey and wings diet on that day! Orrrr perhaps have a lettuce wrapped black and blue (peppered with blue cheese dressing) bacon cheeseburger as well. Mmmmm hmmmmmmm that's going to be a tasty day >=D

losing 4.7 lb a week
20 May 2013
After biking two hard parks saturday and sunday, I'm realizing my fitness levels are back to their optimal levels. I've also noticed that I'm just about back to pre-holidays leanness! Just gotta stay on it and keep plugging away. I still have the 6-pack goal in mind. I've never achieved one. I think it's about time...
Happy healthy-eating and exercising!

gaining 0.5 lb a week

Here's a friendly reminder to all those who enjoy working out, both indoors and outdoors to always stretch your muscles to increase flexibility and to decrease risk of strains and tears. It's also paramount to use proper form when performing movements to avoid injuries as well. I know sometimes we get in the zone and into beast-mode, but if you don't exercise wisely, you could get sidelined!
Have a great Tuesday!
