Steven Anthony's Journal, 18 April 2018

Day two went reasonably well, however I made a couple of decisions. I will log my weight only once a week on Friday before fasting. I will record a journal entry each day.

So what happened of note yesterday? Well first, the wind was supper high and sand stormy here. I went to the park where I walk and only two others were there with face masks. I wanted to give myself an excuse to either not walk at all or to only walk one mile. The kid in me rose up and decided its lots of fun to walk in a dust storm, so I put on a coat and hat and had fun.

My lunch was disappointing. I forgot to put the slice of cheese on my eggs. When I was done, I really wanted more food and the child in me rose up in a great sulk. I wondered if I was truely hungry or not, decided to have a cup of coffee, some water, and a piece of sugar free gum. Sure enough, I was fine 15 minutes later. Something to remember in the future.

When I left work, I had plenty of energy, but was truly hungry. I had to go to the store for some groceries. PAINFUL, everything looked good and tempted me. I don't know how I got out of there without putting at least one treat in my basket, but I made it through. Then, I had to resist the urge to rip open a bag of cheese an devour it on the way home, lol. I ate my dinner and was satisfied util bedtime.

What did I learn? There is this inner voice trying to regulate what I do, think, and eat. It tries to bully me into altering my plan. I have to watch out for him. Today I will pray for people who are truely hungry.

Great journal post. Great insight and honesty and great decisions. Now me, I did not make good decisions and ate like crazy the past two days :( However, I am now on a 4 days liquid fast so I am going to be 'grateful' that I have a tool that works :) Next week I plan to try a 7 day water only fast because the stopping and starting eating is my real problem. While I am on the fast I feel fine.

Your inner voice is the biggest challenge you will face. Losing weight is easy, its overcoming that voice thats hard. Weight loss is mental and physical. Its definitely a tough journey, but so worth it in the end. Great job staying strong!!!

Drinking tea and waiting 15 minutes has worked for me many times to avoid giving in to cravings. Good job in the grocery store. That place is a mine field! Keep a lid on that inner voice, but let the kid in you out. That's fun. Liked your post. :)
