I was feeling pretty good until I googled at what weight does a 5'4" woman lose the horrid title of obese. 145 pounds high side of what I should be. When I was younger (55 years old)I looked pretty healthy at 155-159 I was a letter carrier and super active. How do they come up with these numbers? Right now I'm focused on one-derland!

I have no idea where "they" come up with these numbers...so i try to ignore them. I also have been taking a good look in the mirror every morning when I am getting ready for the day.... when I see a change i am happy.... When I do not see any change or I feel negative...I take a deep breath and say to myself "You are facing this...and going in the right direction." Then I come here to this community to see what others are doing. Comparisons to yesterday....just make me sad ....I am here now.... MY very best to you....focused on Onederland is a great goal!!!!

they, those people, us, we.....BMI is a simple measurement and chart or equation to help determine if you may be at a higher risk of certain diseases and illnesses. Another really good, some would say better measurement, is body fat. I do have a date scheduled to enter one-derland (It's a Small World) and yes, the song is now stuck in your head.....But, my BMI last pound in 'overweight' will take two more years. I started on the edge of obese 5 years ago, dropped some weight, and have kept the first 15 off and am solidly in month 49 of maintenance for the first 15. The next ten is slower and slower but no worries my BF (body fat) is slowly dropping too and my Doc and I spend more time discussing football then health markers. Heck, maybe you get short of 145 but find comfort in your effort and realize it just a chart and a number. Best of luck.
