Ms Elizabeth's Journal, 11 August 2017

I will be cutting out all the white crap and going Lower Carb starting on Monday. I plan to slowly get myself in gear over the weekend. I'm going to go shopping for tons of veggies and healthy foods, get rid of the crap that only I eat or that the kids eat and I'm tempted by, and make the candy bowl disappear at work. Yesterday I officially became a gym member at work.... It's go time.

I may not have a lot of control over things right now but thanks to some great advice I think concentrating on my health and diet will improve all the other areas of my life. At least it will make me more mellow.. without the sugar highs I may not feel like strangling certain people. Oh who am I kidding? I will still feel like strangling certain people but my pants will fit while I do it.

That's that. I've said it. Now I expect everyone to call me out when I log marshmallows in my food log. Or um.. the kids fruit snacks.. Or the smarties... seriously those things are like crack. Or soft pretzels. I blame the pretzel place in the mall for that. They lured me in and then became my dealer while school clothes shopping with my daughter. I also noticed they are strategically placed outside of Aero, Hollister, Abercrombie.... It's on purpose. It has to be on purpose. Sure honey.. you go in and pick out clothes.. I will eat my pretzel and then I will say no because the clothes don't cover your butt cheeks.. you will pout.. I will buy you an over priced t-shirt with the name of the store on it. Yup... Thankfully only 1 child is old enough to realize what a brand is. On the other hand when you shop with a child that is a size 00 you get to go into stores you can't buy clothes in because you're too big and you realize what you're missing out on.

So todays attempt at getting healthy is brought to you by overpriced motivation, a marriage that is going down the crapper, and my scale telling me I'm back in the 200's. Screw you scale!!

When you think about it, filling kids with candy doesn't help them - but it may help you deal with them.

I used to fill the ex's kids with sweets and fruit shoots in the final hour of the journey back to their mother's ... 😈😈😈

Couple of things that jumped out - sugar, caffeine, and negative affirmations. Try honey or real maple syrup to sweeten your coffee vs sugar (aka "the white crap). Try using only 1 creamer or 1 tsp of milk (almond, soy, whole, skim, or non-dairy creamer if lactose intolerant) to cream up your coffee. Drop the caffeine cold turkey, or at least refine to 1 or 2 mugs a day if you must have it. Try switching from negative to positive affirmations about yourself, your family, and your new life. For example: I am a beautiful, caring person. I am not valuing myself by the numbers on a scale. I am happy. I have X amount of intelligent children and I am a good mother and provider for them. I will not listen to the negative nellies who want to only bring me down. I am a better person than I was yesterday. Just food for thought....

If you can just cut out the bread and other wheat products, you will find some positive things happening. Have been reading "Wheat Belly" and there's a logic to the idea that the newer wheat is not same as historical wheat. By avoiding it, you might find that you are happy with the results, so much so that it's worth letting go of the wheat, flour, breading, etc. Wishing you great strength. You can do this.

It is all about attitude and you have plenty of that! Enjoy your weekend and enjoy your Monday.

Agreed with Gastro Patient! Nixing the wheat products and products with any added type of sugar, then anything with any form or MSG was what worked for my first real losses, back when I first started this to compliment a work sponsored walking contest site. If you cut out the processed foods, you eliminate a ton of starchy - converts - to - sugar - almost - instantly - in - your - body stuff and questionable chemicals.

Love your attitude (and the post)! I hear beginning this LCHF way of eating is easier for some folks if they start with a fast (24 hours). Just make sure you get your macronutrient ratio right for you - for me it's 65% (good) fats, 25% protein and 10% (or less) carbs... or, when I'm shopping for food and don't want to "do the math", I check the Nutrition Facts label and ensure the fats are twice as high as the protein.

DairyFarmersWife, I was where you are not so long ago, but then I gave up Sugar, and most of my bread. I don't have the same cravings that I used to have and sugar isn't even on my mind anymore. I blame Sugar for my weight, and being addicted to it. Now I am about 6 weeks away from sugar and I don't even think about it. My hubby still eats it, and I buy it for him, in the way of candy bars, cookies or what he wants. I just don't eat it and no longer crave it. You can do this, you will succeed and I can read it in your post. Those clothes will be fitting you fine when you do that choking of others that probably need it anyway, whether you are eating right or not. lol Enjoy yourself in this and keep on posting here. You will be so surprised at the support you will find here with all of us in your corner, cheering you on.

I just lost 7lbs and 2" off of my waist in a week by doing keto diet of high fat low carb diet. I also have MS but feel great with these products. It really works. If you want to check it out a little more just for the info not to even buy the products but just to get more info on it. Check my site out http://cathy6227.mywakaya.com I was the biggest I had ever been including when I was pregnant 4x's. I gave up and didn't think anything would work. Then a friend reached out to me with this. She said everything is guaranteed. So I figured I had nothing to lose. If nothing else try just doing the diet and make some strawberry cheesecake fat bombs. Oh my they are the BEST and I feel like I should be gaining weight and not loosing it from eating the opposite of how I was raised to believe was true. Good luck on your journey.

Get your salad greens ready in one big bowl and your tomatoes and stuff in another and then cook up a weeks worth of toppings so you have easy dinners or lunches ready for every day. Get some boiled eggs done, do some veggie sticks and cheese straws ahead of time while you still have the will power! LOL 🙋🏻 You got it!
