QUESTION-----
I've been off FS for a while, kind of hit and miss. What's going on with all the food pics? What I'm REALLY wondering about is the COMMENTS on the food pics. Someone posts a pic of their meal and someone else rips it apart. Too much fat, too many carbs, bad for you, trigger food, etc....what the heck is the point of this?

We all don't eat the same, what's good for one may not be the choice of another, why the need to rip someone's choices?

It's the way of the internet, isn't it? In any public forum, there will always be differing opinions. The only solution is to just keep scrolling.

I agree with both of you Rckc and mskestrela. My thinking on the matter is every person has to figure out what is good for them in moving them towards their goals and it is also their choice how much effort they are willing to put into reaching those goals. It's not my place to judge them or their place to judge me. We should be trying to support and encourage one another.

I'm with Jadsl We're all fighting our own battles and I certainly get support here and hope to support others in moving towards their goals 😁

To filter out those ridiculous food posts, change your "Show Activity From" to "Everyone" or "My Buddies." Currently you've got it set to "Featured," which Fat Secret has annoying set as the default.

My 2 cents worth. Some of us have been on this path so long, experience has taught us that some ideas/plans work for us, some don't. But we tried! We're suppose to be wiser...and kinder. Some that show up here are mere grasshoppers just learning to hop ;) Judgmental attitudes have always been around and they seem to come and go in waves much like the feuds over cico/lchf, exercise vs diet (and what %),etc. While being challenged to do my best will work for me, being shamed or criticized for slipping up only defeats me. There IS a difference. If you ask for advice, you should probably expect that not everyones comments will be 100% helpful, however if you are not asking for advice, those rude comments are really uncalled for. I guess the solution is to squawk a bit, grit your teeth and as Mskestrela says...scroll on! Another thing that comes in waves is the youth factor. There will be a large number of posters who are in the 7o-90 pound range and their comments read like prepubescent boys. They will have to look that up if they bother reading this far :) Now there may be some very slight people out there, I'm not making a blanket statement. Personally I can live without the food photos. They take up a lot of my time and space, both of which I value. When I "support" someone else's post I am supporting their efforts, not that they gained .08 of a pound or that I really crave the food being photographed. We learn those who we can trust to encourage and challenge us, these become our true FS buddies, your a good egg Rckc's :)

Exactly! Everyone is fighting they're own fight. Don't fight each other! It pisses me off that I see a Keebler cookie ad every time I log in and FS doesn't seem to care. I don't know what's going on with them but somethings defiantly changed.

Ah, diet is fraught with salesmen. Everyone needs a twist to sell their books. Read it all, listen to all opinions, the truth is somewhere in the middle.

I only wish those FS friends who post their food photos take into concern that overweight, obese people are very susceptible to involuntary psycho-physical triggers which can sabotage even the best of discipline. Photos of food -- even when it is low-cal, low-carb-- is one of the most powerful triggers. That's why whenever I see food photos on the FS scroll, I groan and try to race past them.
