They are Elk. We have herds of them in our area and these are the females (cows)and last years babies. This is taken from my kitchen window so the quality is poor...they are huge and magnificent! And tasty ;)

Lady, don't be embarrased...it does look snout-ish! We are in NW Montana. Not quite as high elevation wise as Estes but the same Rockie Mountains :) It is amazing to get to live here...peaceful.

We have elk in the winter behind our house. They are huge and since my hubby is a sports hunter, there is a lot of meat on them. Much like venison or beef but leaner than commercial fed cattle.
