@philrmcknight's Journal, 27 December 2016

Shifting focus in the New Year, I've got some fresh ideas and plan to put benevolence on the back burner. 2016 has been a rough year for me and my family on all fronts except weight loss where I've had staggering success. Now it's time to focus on monetary goals. I hope everyone has a prosperous and successful 2017!

I don't see your posts nearly enough, HCB, I will add seeking out my friends as part of my new resolve going forward.

The best of success for you and your family, Phil. I never remember things being very easy in my life for 40 working years. I liked it, and I also hated it, because of the stress. Overwhelming stress at times. I consider myself SO lucky right now, but it wasn't always this way.

Congrats on the weight loss! 2017 is the start of out buckle-down "phase". Can't move to FL until we're debt free 😉

My wife and I have decided that there will be no quarter in 2017, considering our considerable generosity heretofore. I haven't had this sort of mindset for a long time, will take some work to maintain it, but I think I'm up to the task.

You clean up really well, Phil. Love your new picture, but like the ones with you in jeans, too. :) Stay positive and just be yourself. You will succeed, I have no doubt!

After I took that pic I trimmed my goatee, after shaving off a Duck Dynasty beard I had been working on for a couple of months. I have to do that sort of stuff when my wife is at work, she gets funky about changing my appearance too much. lol

Love the new pic!! I'll bet wife is concerned about all the attention you will get from the "fairer sex"!!

That has been an issue, Pandasmom, and unfortunately not without some merit. Nothing inappropriate, but bordering on it that had to be swiftly addressed, and I certainly don't want that sort of attention. I've got a four year old to think about first and foremost.

Your weight loss is incredible. I can relate to 2016 being a pretty shitty year though. Cheers to a great 2017, may we cultivate bountiful lives and supportive communities!

Great photo, Phil and a great mantra for a new year. I've been doing so re-assessing of goals other than weight loss and I've too decided that 2017 is going to be a year of work and reward. For me with the specific goal of being able to retire before my state age of 67. Have a great year

I'm setting an extremely improbable goal for how much money I intend to earn in 2017, and I have about six streams of income to try to accomplish that goal. If I hit 10% of my target I'll be doing better than all of this year.

I have always thought a good money maker is delivering cars to dealers. Tons of those here, but you have to buy a truck for that.

Hot Shot driving is lucrative, but time consuming, I have to limit myself to what I can accomplish via the computer, cell phone, and minimal travel.

I salute you! :-)

i think what would work for getting out of debt is the same thing that would work with losing weight. Recording everything you spend. I know I got out of debt that way. that and a lot of cutting back. but if you see where your money goes, you have an awareness about it. My cousin said to me (which was a real eye opener) 'i respect money'. it's not a resource to be squandered. Best of luck!
