Hermiones Mom's Journal, 28 November 2016

I'm back. I had a marvelous time, and it was so great to be around the ocean for a full week. I could have used a second week for sure! I struggled with the IBS quite a bit while I was gone -- even though I really tried to be careful. One of the impacts of all this has been that if I'm already struggling, I'm not very tempted to indulge. The highlight of my Thanksgiving meal was the salad! I never got near the stuffing, bread, mashed potatoes or pie. I ate some turkey, some cranberry sauce, half a plain baked sweet potato, and a pumpkin custard I made myself -- along with the salad I made of arugula, grapefruit, avocado, pomegranate seeds, and citrus dressing, and that was my favorite part of the meal!

I'm glad to be back home and starting back on my program. I know that there will be some twists and turns through out the holiday season, but I'm going to try to stay on plan as much as possible in between those diversions. And I'm going to start oing to the gym regularly this week, and add skating back in next week. Just got to stick with it...

That salad sounds beautiful. I am beyond impressed that you ate on plan at Thanksgiving without feeling deprived. You must have really focused on family and the beautiful environment.

LadyinDenim -- I did feel a bit deprived, but not so much because I couldn't eat a lot but because I really have to accept the fact that there are certain foods I may never be able to eat again at all without getting really sick. I LOVE key lime pie, and spending a week in South FLorida without it was very sad.

I love key lime pie, too. Making your own desserts is always cool. It's sounds as if you had a wonderful time. I would love to spend Thanksgiving at the beach! It is hard this time of year. We just have to focus and take one day at a time.
