Is anyone hungry for a worm? I just opened a can of 'em in the forum! LOL...
Yesterday I posted a new thread in the community forum, inviting people to share their image and info when they use FatSecret. The reason for this is that I feel that it makes you more accountable in what you're doing. It makes you say "Yes, I am doing this, and I am going to see this to the end". It takes the wishy-washyness out of the equation, and removes your option of going back, it removes your option of backing out, thus (hopefully) removes your option of failing.
Of course - OF COURSE - there are a million reasons to NOT do this, as we all have personal lives, security concerns, hateful co-workers and all those other issues that may prohibit us from doing this. It's all up to the individual person if they want to follow my advice. I am simply stating what I have seen getting me to my goals, what I have done differently this time around. Like many others here, this is far from my first weight loss journey, but this is the first one that I WILL see to the end, even if my doctor says I need to go much further than I had ever prepared myself for.
Every day I track everything. EVERYTHING. Every day I journal. Rule is, there HAS to be a daily journal, if only a few words on busy days. There is ALWAYS time to journal, even if it's just a quickie from my cell phone (yes, you can do that through the app).
Also, EVERY DAY I report my weigh-in on Facebook. You would not imagine the support I have been getting through the last year. Not ONE negative comment. All positives, even when things are going wrong, when I bitch and whine. When that happens, people give me advice, suggestions and encouragement, and it helps me going. Same with all you guys here who has me as a buddy, and everyone else who read my (at times lengthy) journals. I see it as therapy, and a way to stay focused on the task at hand - losing weight.
Of course, when I suggest something, it is merely that - a suggestion. If you want to follow my advice or not is 100% up to you. There is no law when it comes to FatSecret. However, I do think it's wise to listen a little bit to those who are succeeding. Take a peek over their shoulder and see what they are doing to get it right. That's what I have done. I have not invented anything here. I have merely taken other people's success, and modified it to my liking, to my needs and to what I believe I could accomplish and live with on a day-to-day basis. That's all.
I do see a need for help in here. I have literally dozens of messages in my inbox from people asking me to help figuring this weight loss beast out. I am more than happy to help - I happily spend hours doing it on a daily basis, and I really like doing it. It's nice to know I can make a difference, and again - it's MY therapy to keep me focused. How embarrassing wouldn't it be if I didn't follow my own weight loss to the end now? I no longer have failure as an option - and I like that. I HAVE to go on, whether I want to or not. Fortunately, I DO want to. I love my new life and nothing's ever gonna take that away from me.
Anyways, back on track...
Today, I gained a little tiny bit, 200 grams. I am still under 90 kgs, and that truly amazes me. I worked HARD to get under 90 for yesterday, and I know that I was probably dehydrated. That mission has been accomplished, and now it's time to move on. Whether I stay under 90 all the way I don't know - there is an Indulgence Day coming up (I like that one!) this Saturday and traditionally I gain a couple of kgs right after. So I wouldn't be surprised to see the number to up above 90 for a little bit. We'll see.
Yesterday I went for a VERY controlled celebration of my weight loss anniversary. I went to work, and when I came home I made an awesome hot and spicy chicken soup for La Familia and I, and I stuffed myself silly. Not many calories in it, but man it was good. Then, as a dessert I had WAY TOO MUCH low calorie ice cream. The local store here has one that is actually pretty decent, caramel flavor, and I had half a liter! Still, I didn't go over my calories, but it would very well add to the gained weight today, simply because it's still processing.
I had a great time, and honestly it was a good laugh to see my forum thread de-rail like that. It even brought the missus into the game. Please do take note of her profile pic! I love it - and I love her! :)

Anyways, it seems like I could keep babbling today. I better stop. Gotta go to work soon.
Take care, all my friends, and have a wonderful day. I am back to day one on the rest of my weight loss journey today. Life is good. Very good indeed. :)

I thouroughly enjoyed reading this entry! It showed up as I logged on, and the first sentence made me curious...nice attention getter! If you are interested in having a (FS Newbie) Buddy, I would really appreciate that, especially for the fact that you log EVERYTHING, like I do! =)

Lol Kingkeld..... Your thread, did indeed, evoke a passionate outburst from some people.... Certainly stirred some people up :-D. Sharing and supporting is why we keep coming back to FS and why we are successful (those of us who do share and support). You are so right when you say FS makes you accountable - particularly when you have people who are "following" you. You just can't let them down by not following through. You sound like you celebrated your "anniversary" in grand style - but within your calories :-). Here's to another successful year :-)

I think it invoked more than passionate outbursts. More on that later.

Yes your thread started quite the heated discussion...since I stopped hiding behind anonimity, I am now addicted to FS and spend way too much time on here....:0

LOL thanks, Joshsteeny (now it feels weird calling you that!), I actually just changed it to a more recent one. I have a great idea for my next one. Very me. Very Jurassic Park. :) Stay tuned.

I appreciate all your kind words. And as much as I love hearing them, I don't want you guys to feel obligated to say thanks and all that. I consider myself one of your friends, and I just like to help out if I can. That's all. A lot more has happened since yesterday - I'll write about it in tomorrow's journal. Time for bed. NIghty night. Life is still good. :)

Your post may have opened a can of worms, but it also opened some minds (or at least one – mine). It made me realize that to have a richer, more fulfilling experience here I need to put more of myself out there. So I’ve recommitted myself to journaling and interacting here (and on other social media). I can tell you that for at least one person your point was well received and appreciated.
