Hermiones Mom's Journal, 24 April 2016

Oy. Second holiday meal last night may have killed me. I can tell that in about an hour, the 24-hours-after reaction will set in. I didn't eat too much with wheat and nothing with dairy, but I think two holiday meals in a row was too much for me. It's Ok, I'm done now. Today I have been on plan and then some. I have to stick to it -- I mean, what if that wonderful dress I got for next Friday's cocktail reception doesn't fit me anymore because I ate a piece of matzo? Still have to find panty hose that fit and decide on shoes... and also whether to splurge and have my hair styled on Thursday.

Oh well... I am going to push through this week and hope that by next Tuesday, I can do my first May weigh-in without getting discouraged.

2-days into prednisone pack, I have rejoined planet Earth. Can't believe the difference. Next spring I will not wait so long to call the doctor for help!

Buy spanks if you have to. And wear that cocktail dress even if you have to stand all night. You will look amazing.

I'm not sure it qualifies as a cocktail dress, but it's very cute. I can't really use Spanks because my permanently broken arm does not grip and pull! Also, when I tried on the dress, no Spanks were needed. Am hoping I can find pantyhose I can manage to get on without weeping halfway through. I haven't regularly worn pantyhose since 2006 when I broke my arm -- and being as heavy as I got, I stuck with pants suits, so I only needed knee highs. Just keep your fingers crossed I can get dressed without some incident!

Dont' forget that the prednisone may make you "puffy" and may cause you some problems with both weight and being able to get into the dress. Not being negative, just saying don't get discouraged if you seem to take a step backward while you are on the meds!

I know I know -- it's possible. But overall, this prednisone pack has reduced the inflammation all over my body compared to a few days ago. My allergies are completely under control after 24 hours on the meds, so I can't really complain. It's only a 7-day pack, so I'm sure my body will settle down after. I do have an alternative outfit to wear to this event, so I'm not super worried. But thanks a lot for reminding me, pandasmom!

The event is 4-29. It's a client's event. I guess I'll figure out what to where on Friday morning, depending on how big I am after 2 holiday meals and 7 days on prednisone.

And yes, I know -- I'm eating too much. But you have to eat food to take the prednisone, so I'm using my muffins for that purpose. Tomorrow the number of pills drops so that I think I won't have as much trouble. But my calorie count needs to get down and my exercise needs to go up this week! Good thing I have ice skating on Tuesday.
