Had my first bulletproof coffee today (Thanks for keeping such a complete food journal Fred4win!)- Interesting...I usually drink my coffee black, so I was sipping the new and the old alternately - Not bad at all, actually. I good way to kick off the new challenge (How low can you go?) and to meet the goals of the Lose 20 pounds...
Have a great day everyone!

Rreed01562 I am watching you...and congratulations on your first bullet proof coffee.. if you drink that in the morning i never eat till supper....it will help you get into keto state and your hunger will seem to vanish....since i been in keto i have cut may cals down from 2000 to less than 1100. i still never eat that many...today maybe 600cals or less...but i keep my carbs below 20 grams...that seems to be the secret...good luck to you.

Bullet proof coffee: 1 cup hot coffee, 1 T unsalted butter, 1 T coconut oil - Put it all in a blender or blending container and process (I use my immersion blender for this) - looks like a latte - foamy and good - Pour in a cup (or not I drink mine out of the container :-)) Sometimes I put a drop of vanilla extract in just to change it up...There's a bunch of recipes on-line - this is the one I use. Oh! I also have been putting in a packet of gelatin - trying to get my nails stronger. I've been drinking it in the morning and it lasts me for at least 6 hours...

Rreed01562 yes seems you are starting a revolution with your coffee...and yes many versions but no sugar. I also some times use a touch of vanilla...never thought of gelatin. great idea.

Hey Fred! The coffee was from YOU! I didn't even know about it until I peeked at your food journal - THANK YOU! I've been going through a rough emotional period - seem to have finally shaken it off - BACK to business and keeping track today! Thank you, everyone, for your encouragement and support!

Bullet Coffee (why is it called that) works for me too

The original Bullet Proof Coffee guy named it that possibly because it makes you feel ten feet tall and bullet proof :) He calls his diet Bullet Proof diet. I call mine Magic Bullet coffee because I make it in a Magic Bullet blender.

Dave Asprey created Bulletproof Coffee and you can see his book titled, "The Bulletproof Diet" which essentially is intermittent fasting (fast 16 hours and eat all meals within an 8 hour window) and ketogenic LCHF

That's the guy! Thanks HCB, I was drawing a blank on the name and I didn't feel like googling it this morning :)

To make it do you need a specific coffee? to start? I am going to try this

According to Dave Asprey you need a specific coffee, a specific MTC oil and grass-fed butter like Kerry Gold Irish butter to get the high performance he requires, but I make mine with maxwell house columbian coffee, carrington farms liquid coconut oil, I do use Kerry Gold unsalted grass-fed butter because it's so yummy and I add two eggs for the protein, tsp of vanilla to mask the slight taste of the eggs, two tbsp of heavy whipping cream and a squirt of stevia for sweetness. To me it is delicious and a great way to start the day. I was never a breakfast eater, the coffee gave me a way to add calories to my diet without the cooking and chewing.

One thing I was told is since I do IF the eggs would break the fast. I only use 1 tbs coconut oil in mine to save on calories....

My version of BPC (or tea for the hubby) is coffee (or tea), 1 T butter, 1 T coconut oil, 1 T HWC, 1 raw egg... I always blend not stir. FYI, for those who cant afford the organic stuff... I only buy the cheapest stuff! You dont have to spend your savings!
