Okay, I'm a couple of days past my 30 day experiment with Nutritional Ketosis. My observations: The first week was -- odd. I started out with a bad cold at the same time as I intended to start the experiment, so it's a little tough to tease apart the symptoms of the cold from the symptoms of Keto. But my sense of taste went very wonky. Everything tasted weird, and after reading somewhere that I needed minerals, I bought some Light salt (potassium and sodium chlorides) and some trace mineral tablets, and that helped. In testing blood ketone levels, I fairly quickly started to achieve practical levels of blood ketones, between 1.0 and 1.7 or thereabouts. My appetite dropped a good bit. My weight loss didn't actually change from the level I had been getting on a more "normal" level of carbs. Part of that may have been that it was actually harder for me not to eat more calories than I intended because the fatty foods are more caloric per gram of weight. Lower intestinal "discomfort" for several days, and then defecation got rather more solid. And infrequent. It was hard for me to get enough fiber while trying to eat less than 25 grams of carbs per day. I may try Keto again because I want to see if I can train my body to adapt smoothly and easily between the two modes of metabolism. But as a weight loss technique I found it to be more of a hassle and less effective than straightforward calorie restriction.

Fat should be 65-70% and can include high fiber fat such as avocado or seeds. Good luck with whatever works for you!

eat enough fat and you defecation will not be a problem....sounds like your amounts need more research. 70 to 80 fat== 20 prot== less than 20% carbs, 10% is better but hard to to. first week nothing happens very much...second week your weight loss will take off. fat is what you are eating...the minimum 20% prot is to preserve you mussel mass. very low in carbs will need supplements for nutrients and vitamins. most people have to work into this slowly....but those are the numbers to achieve.

Try a spoonful of powered Magnesium before bedtime, and that will help with the elimination issues. I need that mineral supplement myself, because I get muscle cramps at night, and it helps.
