wholefoodnut's Journal, 26 August 2015

I'll try to catch up on everyone's posts, I'm behind. I'm getting in exercise and it's nice having some things planned for meals this week, I need to start working on a plan for next week as grocery shopping is in the schedule for the weekend. I'm also trying to use up all the veggies and veggies that I already have. Made some veggie burgers last night to use some up... they can be frozen for later.

The weather has been beautiful, dry and in the 80's, rare and too cool for August. The weekend should continue with similar weather.

Odd things learned on FS:: I learned about getting rid of cable/satellite last year here and went with ROKU and a Hulu and Netflicks subscription which has saved me many $$$$ over the year. It's also terrific for exercise videos!!!

I was missing the local news, though I could get it on my laptop, however, I could rarely watch our local Chiefs and Royals when I have time without a paid sports channel. I do not need all those sports. Also carrying around a laptop in order to hear the news and weather is not handy, especially getting ready to go to work. DD and SIL suggested an indoor antenna, bought one today so I have local channels plus some for the $35.00 investment and no monthly payments!! Awesome picture and color!! Much better than my old satellite or previous cable!!

Nice! WHat do you use as a binder on the veggie burgers?

Kathryn, where are you? I missed a bunch of the world series games last year could only get some of them on my computer. I'm in Independence.

Kelly, potato or winter squash, this one was a butternut squash, a couple eggs, and some regular oatmeal then get it cold. The squishy cooked winter squash or sweet potato are my favs.

Glen, it's working!! I'm happy. I missed being able to watch the Chiefs last year and some of the World series, I could find some of them on my computer but not most of them. A whole lot cheaper than a sports package!! I checked into them and couldn't justify it. There is a site that will sort of help you TVfool.com and tell you if your address will get reception with an antenna. I was researching and found it. I can do a 35.00 plus tax and no monthly fees. $100.00+ was really annoying me to get satellite and cable was even higher. I don't mind so much paying 40.00 for Wifi internet access when it also includes most of my TV service as well. I really like turning on the news in the am both local and national while I'm getting ready for work and boost the sound so I can hear it anywhere on my main floor. Surprising how much this site affects you life!!!

I knew it! I live in Narnia and the channels can't be picked up here. Whaaaaa! I still have to pay an arm and a leg for the satellite TV.

I used to live where we only had one channel that came in and then not all the time, before satelite. Grins.

My only option is satellite. I have the very cheapest package. I would go with the indoor antenna, but we live in an area with no reception. Even my cell phone doesn't get a signal here.

Would love your recipe for the veggie burger. Costco has some I like but hate to have to run there all the time just for those. Can you please share how you make your veggie burgers?

I like to put the leftover veggies in a soup or stew. It's also a way to get the hubs to eat them.

I do the same lots of times Mary, a good way to not waste them and add nutrients.
