RavenIllusion's Journal, 15 August 2015

I know its been a couple of weeks, but I haven't been in a good place so the whole idea of coming here and logging my failures just wasn't on the top of my list.

I am off of my diet because it is just not feasible to my financial situation. Plus I am still battling a very deep depression that has pushed into emotional eating. Honestly I feel like all I want to do right now is eat. I will finally get to see my doctor on Monday so hopefully he will be able to help me with this.

I have been getting some exercise at least which is why I think the numbers are not as high as they could be, so at least there is that.
354.0 lb Lost so far: 7.0 lb.    Still to go: 204.0 lb.    Diet followed N/A.
gaining 2.0 lb a week

You did the right thing coming here and writing. Sometimes just getting it off your chest helps. Remember as much as you didn't want to come here, writing (talking about it) helps. No one is judging you here, we have all had and will have those rough times. Depression is a motha and eating while comforting for the moment makes it worse down the line, especially when we eat the "comfort" foods. Slowly and slowly, the endorphins will kick in from working out and you will feel better. Feel free to send me private message if there is something you really don't want to blurt out here. It's a struggle at any weight. I was depressed when I moved here 17 yrs ago, and food became my friend, activity, comfort, sex-- yes, my hubbie and I called it cheating if one ate without the other.....came here at around 185 and got to 332. The past few years, I have managed to get 70 off, but it's slower than molasses. But this is the best place and wonderful people, challenges, tracking, etc. Good luck!! And feel better.

Keep up the exercise even if it is simply walking at a moderate pace for 10 or 15 minutes. Exercise produces serotonin which helps to put us in a better mood. Also, don't give up on your journey to a healthier lifestyle. Not sure what your diet consisted of but, have you tried making a bean soup in your slow cooker? Beans are cheap and you can add whatever you want and maybe a few pieces of smoked turkey or ham hocks if you want meat but trust me, you don't even want the meat if you add carrots, peppers, tomatoes, etc. to the bean stew. Also, greens are good - a bag of collards cost less than $4 bucks, etc. There are always healthy substitutions for most meals. I know you are battling a deep depression so take one day at a time. Keep up the exercise and, I am a struggling food addict, but just want to encourage you to have a pad and pen close by and track what you eat - no pressure. Hang in there and check in with your medical professional on Monday as planned. Here is to recovery. Don't beat yourself up

Don't believe in doctors so can't help you except by looking at your photo and praying

Thank you everyone for your comments, it means a lot to me. I am not really used to having any form of a support system so being able to come here is something special to me. I am just trying to take everything one day at a time and see what I can do to handle it.

Glad you are back. Keep on exercising. It always helps. And do not feel like you are failing. As you stated there are circumstances out of your control not helping. Do what you can. Small changes. Maybe a change of activity when you feel like eating. Go on walks. Switch to plain water instead of soda. And always keep positive and do jot lose hope!! Things will change. Pay attention only to the things you can change and make the changes you need. Do not worry about the rest. Its useless.
