Yves336's Journal, 10 June 2015

Well, I knew there would be setbacks. I weigh more now than when I started. I fell back into some of my old eating habits. Eating doughnuts all day was over 7500 calories in just 12 hours. That happened more than once. I stopped recording in my food journal. I figured if I didn't write it down it wouldn't count. Well it does count. What I eat matters. I matter.

I am trying not to beat myself up over it. I am ready to start over. I have to face my weight. My food choices. My water consumption. And my exercise habits. Every minute of every day is a chance to start over. I am glad to have a place to come and share my struggles, my ups and my downs. Thanks FS. Here is to new beginnings.

i emppathize with you, after starting my diet only 2 days ago and being highly motivated, i already cheated at breakfast. I didnt let this ruin the rest of the day. I resolved to be good the rest of the day.

Even though you fell back into old habits, the main point is you have got back on track! just remember, if you ever have a setback, the sooner you get back on track, the less you'll have to make up :) That's what I have to keep telling myself every time I slip up!

You are exactly right! You cannot change what has happened, but you can begin now, just as you have said. We're all in this together and you have our support! I've learned it's much easier not to eat the doughnuts all day if you just reject the first one. Oddly enough, eating makes me hungry when it comes to refined sugar and processed foods. Perhaps you are that way, too. You can do this.

Beating yourself up over what came before doesn't do much good, but it does help if you look at your habits and see what you can change to make things go in a healthier direction. Don't expect to change everything overnight, but do your best to change a little at a time. Maybe today it is doughnuts (a tough one, I know!) and next week you drink more water or make your own lunch rather than going out or take a walk. I am rooting for you to succeed! :)

Thanks guys for all the support and insight. I don't post a lot but I read entries all the time. Knowing you have somebody rooting for you, even though you all are not physically here, can make all the difference.

I don't know why we sabotage ourselves by eating things we know are 'off' course.....but I do know it happens to all of us. The good thing is, you have a lot of friends in this with you this time. We are all cheering from the wings and will be anxious to see you succeed at your next weigh-in. You KNOW what you need to do to change course and get back onto your plan. Like Wholefoodnet say, 'you can do this!'
