Hi, everyone! Hope you are doing well. I'm going to have to think about why I like chocolate so much. If I buy chocolate, I want to eat all of it, not just one portion. Is this going to be a life long struggle for me? If I tell myself I will only eat chocolate at a restaurant or at someone else's home, I can greatly limit how much chocolate I eat, because I don't really eat out very much. I would never think of eating more than one portion of anything, when I am with other people. Something to think about. A lot to think about. Have a great weekend!

Maybe you can buy 85 percent chocolate, eat the whole thing and be ok about it?

Maybe eat it after a full meal or drink enough water before eating it. Or even what wakamiya said.

Deb, happens to me when I get really hungry for chocolate or something salty. I only buy a little bit and do not keep it around. Once it's gone I'm good for a long time. After my sodium levels dropped this winter and I inhaled the chips ( I don't even like them) that were left by my family the day before my blood test, my doc says follow what your body is telling you. Your body might just be needing that, then she laughed and said, I know you pay attention to what you eat so I can give you that advice.

Luckily it's just chocolate you have that dilemma with. I have many foods that I must keep away, b/c I can't have a reasonable portion.

I can't allow any chocolate in the house, or within reach. Husband has his stash down in the garage/shop. I tried doing the 1 piece a day and it doesn't work for me.

Everyone seems to have something....I can keep a 85% Lindt bar in the house for quite a while. I have one in my desk at work too. It is just there to keep me from touching any other chocolate around. Every once in a while I have a square, usually with a little natural peanut butter on it. That combo is so rich that one square is enough. Not everyone can, or should have it that close by though. With me, I don't keep cookies in the house. Not even for my guys. Too darned tempting.

I have some sugar free hard chocolate candies, individually wrapped, and I can eat one or maybe two a day and that will be enough. If I have the creamy fatty chocolate, even the 85% one, I want to eat the whole bar or the whole bag.

I'm just going to have to put the chocolate in the freezer. That way I will have to thaw out just one piece and I have to walk to the kitchen in order to have it. :)

Jeri, I used to keep a pre-sliced cheesecake in the freezer and when I took a piece I never thawed it. I do not buy cheesecake now. lol

I cannot eat just one piece either. I have binged on whole bags of Dove chocolates individually wrapped...it's amazing how fast I can unwrap those little guys! Since starting on FS last week, I have not eaten chocolate. The first three days were torture. After three days (and I've heard this from my Jenny Craig counselor too) the craving goes away. So if you can force yourself to stay away from it for three days, it will be so much easier. I believe there is something in chocolate that is truly addictive.Try to be mindful of your cravings and then purposefully substitute something like hot tea or bottled water to fill you up and distract your mind. And yeah, the freezer trick doesn't work for me either :)

I prefer dark chocolate, and I only buy a bar when I have someone else to give the other half to immediately after purchase. Pizza is my other downfall. I do not keep tempting things in the house, just trying to set myself up for success. You're not alone, the struggle is real ;)
