I eat lots of carbs. Dinner last night a pasta dish made with brown rice spaghetti tossed with sauteed onions, red peppers, mushrooms, asparagus, and fresh grated parmesan with a teaspoon of pesto sauce. I also finished the leftover catfish that needed using.

The first day of more protein less carbs did not go well lol. I am going to give it a week. If I still feel yucky and if no weight is moving I will go back to my turtles pace weight loss. thanks for the support guys, it's going to be a lonnnggg week.

It's been a long time since I've done a really low carb diet, but I remember it took 3 or 4 days before I settled in and got used to it. I always had a hard time maintaining it over the long term but there are many others who swear by low carb and can do it very successfully as a way of life. Hang in there, wishing you success!

Just FYI... I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes last year... I weighed 275, felt like pure hell. It changed my life. I already knew how seriously sugar (carbs in general) affect the body...but I learned more and asked my Dr., she said to drop carb intake to 150g to 100g a day and see how my body reacts. At 100g a day I lose weigh steadily whether I exercise or not, at 150 I lose weight much moe slowly or even hold my weight. I lost 45 lbs total in a few months... and all I did was count carbs. Not only did I lose the weight without ANY extra 'effort' I felt amazingly better as each day went by. Did it happen quick? No, the body does not work that way, but it DOES work. At least it did for me and it is how our bodies are evolved. Sugar (carbohydrates) is a killer in large steady amounts... and our current society is awash in it... hence so many major issues with overweight health problems and diabetes. I am one of the ones who swears by it. It works, period. As for it being 'easy', no... in a society where the cheapest and easiest food you can get has corn syrup as a std ingredient, no... it is not 'easy' McDonalds is 'easy' but it will not make you healthy. But it can be done by understanding that you are in control of your diet, not the other way around. You can do it once you really believe you can do it. (Sorry for the wall 'o text... having been through what I have, I'm a wee bit born-again about carbs and health...) =] Wishing you the best of luck.

Yes good luck, I switched to a ketogenic approach in January and the scale is moving down for the first time in forever! High healthy fats, lowest carbs and moderate protein. I know you are vegan so I would research your options.

Yeah essentially you can't do any of the low carb diets vegan or even vegetarian without adding a ton of processed crap(sorry guys but it is). I refuse to add processed bars and fake food to the bulk of my diet. Lacto/Ovo-vegetarians have a shot so I am going to eat eggs and maybe try a couple dairy subs. It's only my second day but I am already having trouble keeping calories up. And I have to tell you, that soy cheese is horrendous. I'd rather eat my car mats. So really I am just going to cut out my grains and fruits a bit and add fat. Lots and lots of fat. Counterintuitive but how much damage can I do in a week? If the scale moves more than usual I will stick it out until I get to where you guys call maintenance. Now's the time to try it before I start running/ training in the spring.

Sure you can... look up Dr. Fuhrman. U can take a nutritarian approach. Make you diet more plant based and watch the pounds fall off. Google him... he has a book called eat to live. I lost 11 lbs in 7 days. It works.

Well If you have lost tons of weight thats wonderful but I already eat vegan whole foods diet and am losing really slow. What changes did you make to lose all that weight?

Being vegan only mean u don't eat anything made from animals. But u can still eat things that ur body don't need such as grain, sugars, etc. Nutitarian is plant based, meaning my diet regimen consist of 97% plants (veggies, fruits, beans, and seeds). 97% of my diet consists of an acronym called G-BOMBS... and that's Greens, Beans, Onion, Mushrooms, Berries, and Seeds. Sure I can eat vegan meals but I'm liking the results and choose not to

His cookbooks are awesome. Once I get my cookbook shelves redone I'm collecting all of his. I'm simply out of room. My dining room will be lined with shelves just for cookbooks. Odd, I know but it's just me so my house will fit me once it's remodeled.
