Rockiesfan's Journal, 20 December 2014

I think this coming week will be a true test and a hard one as I took the entire week off so I don't lose the vacation time. But the thing is I know I pick and eat a lot out of bordem, so it will be a little tougher for me unless I can find stuff to keep me busy during this time.

You can always munch on veggies ;-) Keeping yourself busy to avoid overeating is always a good plan.

I thought of another way to make sure I get through the holidays without destroying my sugar levels and my shrinking waistline. Since others can see my food journal, I'm committing to being 100% honest about everything I eat (I pretty much am anyway, but I haven't been faced with a holiday yet) and record it in my journal all of next week. My thinking is that if I pick up something I shouldn't be eating, I'll think "Do I really want to have to admit to everyone at Fat Secret that I actually ate this?" If my answer is that I'd be embarrassed to put it in my journal, I won't put it in my mouth. Let's see how it goes, and everybody who thinks about it, feel free to watch my journal and call me to the carpet if I get carried away.

Like your style WilliamWilkins. That's exactly why I'm posting here. I'm very good at tracking what I eat and have been for years. Its the accountability. I have nothing to fear for eating that extra whatever, if there's no one to check me on it. So what that I have it recorded in my little food journal. This site is only 10 days old for me, but I know that every morsel counts, and it's great to be able to look at a glance to see who else is out there struggling like me or needs some support that I can give. Good luck to us all and enjoy your vacation. That closet full of crap or desk drawer you've been meaning to sort out is calling your name

Rockiesfan, maybe have veggies cut up and out like celery, baby carrots, and fruit already cut up and ready to eat. Keep cupboards and pantry doors closed. Have this go to food on the counter or in the front of the refrigerator. I find when it comes to weekends and time away from work that I need to have a game plan worked out or inevitably I will fail. Good luck.

Hope your back is still holding up well - you can take that free time and spend some extra time at the gym, maybe, to offset grazing --- get protein and veggies the keep the tank full. but - enjoy the holidays!

William, it's a good plan. That thinking kept me in line many times when I began this journey, honestly it still does. :))). Rockiesfan find things to do, don't be bored. Learn something new. Think about all those things you wish you had time to do instead of work. I'm a crazy person who simply has too many things I want to do and never enough time, I only get bored if I have to sit and wait somewhere and I haven't brought anything to do along or it's a quiet day at work, everything done and we aren't allowed to do anything but sit there.
