Diea's Journal, 03 December 2014

I haven't weighed in since mid November. I'm kind of scared of jumping on the scale post-holiday feast. I mean, the feast lasted for like 4 days. I still have two bags of tamales left!

Kudos to all of you who did it, regardless of whether the scale went up or down. I've been reading your journals for the past few days now. I want your confidence!!

Any words of wisdom shared here would be really appreciated. I want to get back in mode and get back on the weight loss wagon. Help me please!!

Your not alone!! I just told someone today that the hardest place for me in so many things is the start. I know that when I am healthy and in shape my life seems to be too.. so if I want to be in a "better shape" I have to start somewhere. Not look at the past but for the future by doing it today! It is a new day (even though it is night when I'm writing this... you know what I mean!!) :)

Diea YOU have come along way! You have passed challenges along the way & triumphed over them. You are in the final quarter of the stretch that leads to your set goal weight.NOW is not the time to fear the scale .FEAR STOPS US IN OUR TRACKS! Hasn't the scale been your friend in this journey? It has been the one you went to over & over again to get you to where you are.JUMP ON THE SCALE. Let it show you what damage you have done,if any, then face the future knowing that YOU have at your disposal ALL you need to get you to where you want to be! :) SWEET is correct. You are not alone & the hardest part is taking that first step. Just JUMP! :)You got this!

Wow Diea, I just looked at your profile, and it is amazing what you have already achieved. You are such an inspiration. I fall off the wagon all the time, and then get my life on track again, I know that awful torn feeling - the one between knowing what you need to do and actually bringing yourself to do it. You've got this - so near, yet so far. Get on the scale, and challenge yourself yet again!

I'll be jumping on the scale tomorrow after my 4-day feast and am totally expecting a gain. But you know what? It's not that big of a deal. What's the scale gonna do, bite me? lol Three or four pounds in the grand scheme of life is almost nothing, and they'll come off just as fast as they were put on :) I support you!

Diea-- first you are a brave soul... lol.. I could not do what you are doing (not weighing myself).. call it my ocd--- Since you are not focusing on your weight as such.. may I ask couple of questions? (due to my limited time in the library I can not really have time to check your food journal),,, 1, Are you keeping track of all of your foods in your journal? 2. Are you eating healthier? 3. Are you feeling better than you have been? 4. Are people noticing the difference in how you look? 5. Are you keeping in mind that it took you a life time to get to the place where you were at before starting a life style change.. and you are a life time member of watching what you are eating? (Change of eating lifestyle not dieting)... Since you are no using the scales as a motivator.. you need to focus on "how I am doing, and what I am eating"... if you are eating healthier.. you will lose the weight... Just keep doing what is right.. One illustartion that I try to remind myself is that we are all "farmers" plowing the field.. they plow by keeping an eye on a distant object... and drive straight for it... not looking at the rows themselves.. if they try to pay attention to the rows, they will be all crooked... defeating what they are trying to do.. but if they keep their eyes on a distant object.. they will have straight rows... Hang in there kiddo.. you can do this... do not give up..

I like that farmer analogy. Keep focused on the long game, not the little immediate detours. And, Diea, whatever happened after Thanksgiving already happened, so you probably already know about what the scale is going to say based on how you feel. So you celebrated a holiday. That's okay. But now the holiday's over and time to get back to a healthy lifestyle. The scale doesn't create your reality--it just shows you your progress along the way.

Thank you everyone. All of your words were keenly absorbed. I am breathing in all of your wise words of motivation. I have to get on that scale. I know so much more is involved in this weight loss journey, and that the scale doesn't decide my successes. For me, not weighing myself means that I am not in the game, since that is like a ritual for me as I lose weight. And yes, I do feel it. My body is telling me to stop my current overeating and get back on the scale. You all are so awesome for what you wrote. I hella appreciate the exclamation marks and the caps, since I'm such a visual person. So here I go! The time has come to get back to my good ways. :)
