ChrisComedy's Journal, 16 November 2014

I ordered 5 pounds of garbanzo beans which should put me on the road to consume more protein and getting me off processed, salty, canned beans. I discovered that wider swings on the air walk trainer doing HIT produce a lot more steps on the Striiv smart pedometer, which means my steps yesterday jumped to almost 5,000.

I'm using the dictation feature on my tablet to write this because my computer is in the outer room which is closed off because the temperature has plummeted. That room gets really cold.

I reached 854 steps on Friday. Doing high intensity training for 30 seconds every 5 minutes, my steps actually get recorded. Using high intensity training, my step count zoomed to 4,566 Saturday, an all-time personal best. Let's hear it for high intensity. My new daily average to beat is 813.

C.C. Awesome on the wider swing's, 854, and your step count on Saturday! I am glad you will get more protein in your diet. I would tease you about the beans, I just don't know you that well. I see you like Stash Tea,I think it the best tea out there.

Good that you are getting away from canned beans. I have been doing more beans lately. I do one cup to two cups dried beans in the crockpot, rinse and then use the beans in recipes throughout the week. So high in carbs but the protein is good. Tummy filling. I always lack in fiber so beans really help. I prefer the black beans and kidney beans. Haven't tried dried garbanzo beans that way yet. Might try them in the future because I do like them in salads and hummus. Good luck!

I also have canned kidney, cannelini, and black beans. I will order a five pound bag each week until I have replaced them all. Also, lentils, split peas, and pintos.

I have lentils and pintos but I have yet to do much with them. I try to keep dried items stocked in case I can't get out. Has really helped since my car is still in the shop.

Where you are, I would imagine it's possible to get snowed in. Even Richmond side streets can get pretty gnarly.

Your dictation program works well. We make hummus with our garbanzo beans, but I also make black bean hummus.

Will have to try black bean hummus as well as in ice cream. The dictation has to be cleaned up. Voice recognition has gotten better over the years, but still needs work.

I haven't tried black bean hummus. I'm putting that on my list to try. Believe it or not, I like black beans with unsweeetened cocoa powder and stevia as a chocolate dessert substitute. I have dried pinto beans. I might try making hummus with them too.

As far as getting snowed in, not so much here. At my other house, happened all the time. Last road to be cleared and that is about 5 miles from here. My main concern is the 20 steps I have to go down. Frost on steps is a hazard. I fell once already a while back when it was just raining. Don't care to do that again :)

Kattay, it's easy, you make it the same way you would hummus with Chick Peas/Garbanzo beans.
