DairyKing's Journal, 13 November 2014

Good Evening, FS Warriors! Well, this is one of those journal articles that reveal my vulnerable side. I did not complete my training run today. Boo hiss! I stayed up late last night, on the phone with a tech support person in the Carribean trying to get an application (Audible - like in books) working so I could run listening to a book this morning. Well, we did get the application working, but it was almost midnight when I got off the phone. I slept in the recliner in the family room and didn't wake up till 5 this morning. This morning's run was supposed to be 6 miles: run 1 easy mile for warmup, then run 4 increasingly faster miles, and then cool down for a mile with no rests. Well, needless to say, I did not make this morning's run, and decided to do it this evening. I got up with a bit of a scratchy throat, and the whole family has been sick with one thing or another. DW keeps bringing home every affliction the grankids get. So, I thought, maybe it was a blessing in disguise that I didn't get up early enough to run. So, after dinner, I dressed out and headed down to the treadmill. I only made it about 3 miles before I felt nauseated, took a few sips of water, made it another mile, and thought, I had better stop or I won't have anything left to fight off whatever is trying to get hold of me. So, I'm going to skip tomorrow morning's easy run, and hope I feel good enough for my 10 mile easy run on Saturday. I definitely do not want to take my defense mechanisms down to the point where I will be hit hard with something. So, I weenied out.
There's a dusting of snow on the cars outside. It's in the 20's, and they say it's only going to get worse, at least up to Thanksgiving. Came in like a lion, and earlier than I can remember. I am not a big fan of the cold, and never have been. I don't mind being out on a cold day chopping wood or something when the sun is shining and you have that radiant heat, but this cloudy damp cold is for the birds. But I don't think they like it either. Even the lab is spending more time inside where it's more comfy. Well, I'm glad tomorrow is Friday. I've got to quit saying that, the time goes by too fast as it is. Anyway, I hope I'll be talking with you all tomorrow, so have a great evening, and a better day tomorrow! Toodles!

Okay, your feeling under the weather. When your coming down with cold you really should not stress out your body. Lots of fluids, and rest are needed. Up the amount of B12 in your diet either by veggies or supplements. If you have a health food store close near you look for R.W. Knudsen Simply Nutritious Lemon Ginger Echinacea . Pour 1 ounce to a cup of water hit and drink. If you can take 1 ounce everyday without cutting with water. This should help you shake that cold. Rest, let go of the guilt, take it easy on the comfort food and get moving as soon as you feel better.

You did great with the amount of run you did do under the circumstances. Hope you are feeling better now or are cuddled underneath the blankets. Its close to midnight here. I'm all for stay close to home when there is snow outside. Calling for a rain/snow mix here tonight. Way too early for that kind of weather in this part of the country. Take care of yourself!

Except for Penguins I don't think anyone enjoys cold; I do like the sun on a cold day but agree w/the damp & dark.. never bothered me in the past.. am I getting old? Take care of you .. the exercise will be there when you're back at 100%.

Yay, I get to go pick up my truck tonight! They got it done pretty quickly. However, I'll have to hold off on buying that yacht I always wanted. $1650.00! Oh well, I don't consider rebuilding automatic transmissions a D.I.Y.'er project, undless of course, you are an automatic transmission fixer upper - which I ain't. Life is still good; no scratchy throat today - knock on wood. Not feeling bad; hopefully, a good night's sleep, and I'll knock out my 10 mile run tomorrow, and get some work done

Yay on the feeling better. It was mid 20s here today too but at least the sun was out. This is way too early for non mountain Kentucky. Brrrr!
