Today was a hard day. I try really hard to be positive but every once in a while my doubts creep through. I get scared that I'm not going to get down to my goal weight. That it's not going to happen. The other thing that bothers me is that I look in the mirror and I don't see any difference. I have lost about 73 pounds. I know that my body has changed. I have had to buy new clothes, undies and shirts. My pants are falling off but I still see myself as so overweight. I'm just glad that I have so many people that I can talk to about how I feel. It helps.

I think most people feel that way when they lose weight. I know I've lost but I still see the fat. You've lost A LOT! Cut yourself some slack, look at yourself in the mirror, NAKED, and say "DAUHUM I look good!"

I agree. It's so hard to see the changes in yourself. You have to have faith that the changes are there and with all that you've already lost, you have faith that you can go all the way. We are so funny about what we see in the mirror. I once lost a lot of weight and was all the way down to 120 lbs. You wouldn't believe it, but all I could see is those last ounces of fat. This time, I'm going to celebrate every single loss. You go girl !

Take a pic of yourself as you are now.Compare it to one you have before you lost the weight. Side by side you may see the changes that have taken place. :) I know at times I have thought about not wanting to be a smaller version of my bigger self. That I want the curves in the right places, going in the right directions, muscle defination where there is none now, etc. I know that to get what I want includes more than eating proper foods in the proper amounts.I also have to do the proper exercises to get my desired shape. And keep the image realistic. At 5'2" & small frame I will never look like a long legged beauty. But There are plenty of short women with my build that are gorgeous.:) google images of women that fit your structure to get an "idea" of what your image could possibly look like.Keep a positive disposition & do what it takes to make it happen.73 pounds is an amazing amount to lose. Not only from your body but from your mind! You have grown accustomed to being a larger size, now your mind must get accustomed to a lighter version of you.You must train it to *think* differently just as you train your body to *do* differently. As you do,you will see the changes you have made. ACTION...(*seeing* the improved you)... FOLLOWS...(comes *after*)... THOUGHT...(you *think* about it) Since this is how humans functions: WHAT we *think* about WE *bring* about,WE must guard our thoughts......THINK POSITIVE! :)It *will* happen as *you* think it will.

Lefty, wearing clothes that fit and make you feel good help. 73#s is terrific progress. I only had 60 to lose. I was close to my goal, a couple months ago had just bought some size 6 jeans. Was standing in a checkout line after work one day, in a sweäter that had been too tight to wear last year now baggy, a pair of pants that were held up by a belt also baggy. Everyone in line was overweight and I felt fat and dumpy. I went home put on some spandex exercise pants a shirt that fit and felt soo much better. Decided I really needed to get rid of all those too big clothes.

When you have a hard-wired picture in your head for a very long time, it's very difficult to change it. I had the opposite vision issue- I never saw myself as overweight in the mirror so I never realized how overweight I had become until my body was screaming for deliverance in every step. It took pain, inability to be active (even climbing the stairs to get the laundry done was a mammoth task) and generally feeling ill all over to shake that old vision I had of myself. I try to keep it real now. I guess that was denial and now I try to see myself as I am (self-acceptance and self-love being a key ingredient since my goal is broader than weight loss now). Be good to your self with some positive self talk ... sounds crazy but it helped me.

see your pics from before, look how far you have come, be kind with you, I'm pretty sure people around you have notice the difference because 73 pounds! is amazing drop, keep moving, keep motivated by looking at how much new clothe you have bought and you don´t want to buy a bigger size never again. try to get labs done, see how your numbers have improved, that means health, that means you probablly will live longer. remember your "why" why you wanted to loose weight and keep that in mind all the time.

Jenn, I was the same for a long. I'd been until after some injuries and surgeries resulting in prolonged forced inactivity. The pounds gradually piled on. I hurt constantly and somewhere in there I had to stop the denial and change my self vision to overweight. Now it's swinging back the other way.

Thanks everyone! Y'all are fantastic and really helpful! Getting it out helps me, that way I don't keep it in and end up eating an entire bag of doritos.

It seems all women have trouble seeing how far they have come. Sometimes the mirror is not our friend....instead of seeing what is, we see what was. You have made tremendous progress. I am sure that others can see the change. You just have to believe in the process and the signs that show you that you are are going the right way!!
