I have changed my RDI to 1700 so perhaps I will start seeing better results. This is not going to put me in starvation mode is it?

Off course not. Fat secret is too generous with their RDI, you can just deduct 300 cals from their estimate.

I have an RDI given by fatsecret of 1900. It was higher when I was 200 lbs. A dietician told a friend of mine (same size) that 1300 was sufficient while dieting. That is what I use. As long as I eat healthy options. Lots of fruit and veggies, and drink my water. I'm never hungry. It just means smaller frequent meals. On a not good day I might do 1600. I agree fatsecret is just way too generous. Your body will tell you if it's not happy, listen to it. I found only eating when I was actually hungry was new for me, and made me realize the bad habits I had gained.

I was 192 when I started, have a desk job, working out when I could, I set mine for 1200.. it worked for me. I eat mostly veggies so yours may be higher. Also depends on your plan.

I am not sure how active you are, I set mine at 1500 and dont go over and I work out daily taking only one day as a rest day... I usually come in righ at 1200-1400. I can't picture any one going into starvation mode at 1700

Actually, you can go into this mode at 1700 cals IF you burn 500 cals or more with exercise that day. That leaves you 1200 cals or less to do actual body maintenance, which is commonly touted as the lower limit for females. I suspect the 1300 cals dietician refered to is the minimum level if not exercising that day.

Thanks you guys, I felt like 2000 was too much. Let's see if this works...

I set mine at 1400 and usually eat less as most of my diet is fruits and veggies and fat free dairy. I'm lightly active and I'm losing well.
